Ned: That is not the correct procedure(or rather half correct) in the video world
Here my method, which will ensure nothing will go wrong.(espeicially if you have 3d revelators and it won't work with Ned's proceure)
1) Extract your zip file to a folder
2) Go to control panel -> add/remove program
3) Uninstall Nvidia Display drivers or your vendor's(Elsa, Asus, creative, hercules..etc) display driver (if you can't find, skip to step 5)
4) The pc will ask for a reboot, but don't.
5) type "regedit" in start menu-> run... and go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and delete the key of NVIDIA corperation. (skip if not found)
6) Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> CurrentControlSet -> Services -> Class and delete the Display key (skip if not found)
7) Normally I skip this step but might as well tell you the correct procedure incase it doesn't work if you don't skip.
Boot into safe mode, search for nv*.* in windows and windows/system folder and delete them. <- troublesome but skipping still works with Elsa 3d revelator!
8) Reboot your computer as normal, windows will find new hardware. Then when there is a screen asking you to search for new drivers or otherwise, click the "Display a list of all drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want..." Click next
9) click Have disk... click to the folder you unzipped the file you downloaded and click ok.
10) Reboot when asked, change the colours to 16 bit if your colour is in 16 colors. Reboot when asked and in display -> Settings tab -> Advanced... You can find a lot of tabs!
Download Nvmax(recomended) from
www.nvmax.com to tweak your driver.(overclock, Geforce 3 emulation to run some geforce 3 demos..etc) ...End
11) right click on desktop -> properties -> Settings -> Adaptor change -> next -> Then when there is a screen asking you to search for new drivers or otherwise, click the "Display a list of all drivers in a specific location, so you can select the driver you want..." Click next
click Have disk... click to the folder you unzipped the file you downloaded and click ok. go to step 10.
