Heskey? The FA says he can play as a left winger, that's the funniest thing I've ever read.

Not as funny as the FA says he can play, full stop! (H)

Why the hell am I posting in a thread about the old enemy when I'm a sheepshagger? :(

No surprise that Paul Robinson won't be sitting on the bench, having not made the squad. Shame really, I was looking forward to him making another hilarious gaffe in a Sais jersey (H)

My guess, and I'm trying to sound as unbiased as possible, I know it's difficult being a Sheepshagger... but unless Capello gets them playing as a team instead of a bunch of individuals and gets rid of the WAG culture surrounding the players, it'll be the same old nonsense showing as before - high expectation (especially from the Anglocentric media) but no end result.

OK maybe I did sound biased, oh well.

I wouldn't say no English player is part of the core of the title challengers in England. That's a little over-the-top.

David Beckham pretty much bailed Capello last season, and this is what he gets.

Didn't Almunia offer himself to the English squad?

Such decision will only cause Beckham to work harder, as he always does in such situations, so he can find himself on that list.

I think Capello is sending a message that no players will be given any special treatments. Perhaps that would explain dropping David Beckham, other players deserve his spot more than he does..

Would someone explain to me why Beckham and Crouch, who outsiders observe as England's hardest working players, bore the brunt of the English criticism? Is it because they aren't "everyday lads"?

Beckham

I hopethat being left out of the first squad is not the end of his England career. He may not be as good as he once was, but he still the best freekick and crosser that England has.

Capello made a mistake when he dropped him at Real, and then had to bring him back to win the league, so hopefully Beckham will be back in and getting his 100th cap with the next game
