Cut out the cheap shots EA...

Now I've played every fifa series game since '97. I was and still am a diehard fifa fan, enjoying the series. But now, as I'm more mature, and more tactically knowledgeable, I can see what EA do to make the game seem more realistic since the 2004 series.

1st point

Here's the scenario. A long ball or long pass is played to the opponent's forward. Now he's hauling a$$ heading straight for your goal, being chased by 2/3 of your players. Now there's one defender ahead of him who has a chance of stopping him.

Now what happens? When u press the button to change players on the field, u change to one of guys chasing him instead of the defender ahead of him, and u can only change to that defender when it's too late. Now, if EA want to fool newbies by making it seem like the game is challenging, at least make the Defender ahead of him have some proper sense, and at least have the Artificial Idiot(AI) attempt to stop the attacker, since u have no control over him.

2nd Point

Have EA heard of anything called 'taking it in his stride'? EA have made a big emphasis on slowing gameplay down so it could seem like you're passing the ball around like in real life, but that isn't the case. Here's the situation. You're hanging on for your life defending, you get a tackle in, clear the ball, and start playing some quick passes. Now you see an attacker starting to break away from the defenders so u pass it to him quickly and what does he do? He stops and traps it. :| What's that smell? Yes EA, that's the smell of bullsh!t. How about actually being able to play passes that players take in their stride? Instead of stop, go, stop,go all the damn time.

3rd point

Difficulty Levels. The infamous difficulty levels. Now the point of this is to make the game more challenging as u get used to and conquer the lower levels. Now you may wonder, how does the game get harder? Well here's how and it's not only because the computer get superhuman abilities of pace, strength etc.

It's because the game screws around with your tactics and I think that's a load a crap. I noticed it while playing. As the difficulty level goes up, the opposition push up more, and your team defends WAAAAY too deep. No matter how attacking your tactics are, your defenders are mostly no where near the ball. Here's how it goes.

There's like 8 players in your half of the field..WHEN YOU'RE ATTACKING. You have no support in midfield, and your attackers are far ahead of you, behind the opposion defenders. You get crowded out by the superhuman opposition so u attempt to pass it to an attacker, but what's wrong? He's way too far ahead of you! So the ball is easily intercepted, and now theres a big hole in midfield because all your players are waay back in your own half so the opposition runs at you, you cant select the right player to challenge that attacker because of the first point I made, and they score on you. Then you get mad like me and come on these forums demanding your fiddy bucks back.

------------------------------------------------

So come on EA. The gig is up, your pants are down. Instead of constantly bumping up the appearance, adding one new feature each year, then removing that new feature to add another new one, how about you actually go outside and play a match, or maybe go to a real match and watch how they play.

How about you put in some real effort, instead of 'new lighting techniques' and special effects. Or doctoring trailers with fancy moves to make it look cool, but then we get bored of the game after like 3 days. All this is pretty. A pretty, empty, hollow shell of a game.

ANTI-FIFA PLAYERS'! :f***: Be gone with you, EEEVVIIIILLL:crazyboy:

Nah, just messing, what you say is true! I agree, I think EA made the computer cheat on higher difficulty levels on FIFA 2004

Taking passes in your stride is a 'first touch' motion. FIFA 2005 features first touch control, but it'll be more than just that I'm sure.

The "cheating" to make the game more difficult is outrageous. Look, world class or not, Dennis Rommedahl can run the 100 meters in 10.2, he shouldn't be caught by a bench player from China. I agree with point one - the ability to switch your players is FUBAR and absolutely MUST be dealt with. I also agree that my defense is abominable, not so much because they are too far back but because they are too far up actually. Combine this with the fact that on world class the best defense is slower than the worst offense and you have a real problem. I mean some teams are defensively oriented. Greece gets absolutely defiled in 2004 because the defense in the game is awful. Not to mention how bad your keeper gets on WC difficulty, I think we should call that Point #4.
