crash/freeze problem

Into my 3rd season, WEFA CL quarter final decider & every time I go to "next game", the game either freezes when I press a button, or it crashes somewhere through the first half. Not a specific moment, can be anytime.
Even when I want to play a game through a different option (match, cup, etc), the same problem occurs.
I haven't downloaded anything, so I'm playing a "clean" version out of the box, but still the game either crashes or freezes. Seems my option file is f***ed.
Has anyone had this problem and/or knows the reason behind it & most importantly, has a solution?
Thanx a lot in advance for the answers, as I am getting desperate and pretty annoyed.

Maybe you have too much data in your saved games. Try to erase some replays or old leagues to solve your problem. I thinks this could be the problem.

Seems Jonileal was right! I deleted some replays & saved games e voila, working fine again! Strange, as I only had about 25 saves, but I don't care!

You dont have to delete anything just move to another folder .If folder 1 exceeds 8mb then youve got problems . Thanks to Konami`s brilliant port from the PS2 version they forgot to remove the restrictions of the PS2`s 8mb memory card.
