Copa America Draw

to be honest i always go for mexico in this tournament, if brazil wins it its gonna be like mmmm ok thats nice, i mean brazil has nothing to prove really, neither a team like uruguay or argentina, everyone knows these teams own S.A no matter what happens.
but i am eager to see mexico win something i mean anything, but the reality is that brazil is going to own mexico, but with this lets say i go for the underdog, so i guess mexico. :mexican:

hmm.......guess you misinterpreted my post. I should have put: "disapointed". (waiting 4 years to play Bolivia? Come on.)

Just got from lots of sources (IE: well, I guess pretty much the POV of Sangrila :p :funny: ) and in general people were looking forward to playing the big boys up front (and listening to opinions from a few radio channels talking about it in a: "well ...it's easy. but ...still"

Im actually happy with the group (as you can see in the post before that I said: "Carlos*POT"!) but i do understand the disapointment (imagine we were to get eliminated by Chile in the 2nd round= most disapointing copa ever.

PS- Ill edit :"furious" to "disapointed" then :p

i still don't get it, you basicly face "the big boys" by advancing as far as possible, i think people in uruguay are more interested in advancing to the finals and winning it than worrying if they are going to get a chance to play against teams like brazil or argentina.

in another note all i know is that conmebol tried to give venezuela the easiest group possible(if costa rica was in the copa america instead of the u.s i'd bet my left nut group A would have been venezuela, peru, bolivia and costa rica and uruguay would be in group c), in other words if venezuela was in group b or c they would have had to say goodbye to the cup before they even played it.

I seriously doubt anyone's furious or even disappointed. Who's Sangrila?

Sorry to be conflicting, but I haven't heard any negative comments from our media about the draw.

Well that's kinda obvious. I heard an AFA representative say that : "Conmebol wants the hosts to go far in all the tournaments" <"Politics" was the word he used). :nape:

And dont underestimate Venezuela that much, you saw what it did to us in 2004-05

dude :o ..........the town (20 minutes from Montevideo).

And from the Media's POV, I guess they have a much different view than what I've been told :p : ("CELEBRATION" is the title of the article <with a pun on Venezuela's colours and "wine") -http://www.futbol.com.uy/noticia_15162_1.html :bouncy:

yep the tournament is pretty much very small; so i wouldnt worry, its very probable we will see brazil/argetina or argetina/uruguay matchups, must agree with sosa , the important thing is tha uruguay wins it and not so much who they play in the process, tought i wont be happy seeing maybe an uruguay vs usa final or something a like hehe lol :mexican:

I think the US will struggle in their group, those are all good teams. Only columbia is mediocre- but even so this is in South America so the US will need a bit of luck. Also, thats why I think Mexico wont do so incredible, but they will definately make it out of the group.
I dont see a winner outside Brasil Argentina or Uruguay this time around..

Yeah, i think the mexicans are forgetting that besides Brazil they will also face Ecuador who isn't an easy one. Plus i have no idea in what shape is Chile currently, Group B isn't that easy either, however C is still the toughest.:)
Not sure why the guys from United States think they will have it so easy, well better for them if they think that.:p

I'm fine with Group C, nice and tough, Colombia and Paraguay are always complicated, also i'm interested to see what will come of an Argentina-United States clash.

Of Group A Venezuela vs. Uruguay will be an interesting match to see.:o

If we bring our full squad, I think we will advance to the quarterfinals. Not that it's going to be easy.

The dilemma for both the US and Mexico is whether to bring in their strongest team to Copa America and their 2nd-tier players to the Gold Cup or the other way around. Copa America is obviously the far more prestigious tournament, but winning this year's Gold Cup qualifies you to play in the Confederations Cup in 2009.

We won the Gold Cup with what was practically our C-squad last time around (although via penalty kicks), but there's no chance of that happening if the Mexican'ts bring thier full team for the tournament. We'll have to wait and see what they do. I'm hoping for some kind of behind-the-scenes agreement between Bradley and Sanchez that both countries will bring their best players for Copa America and their B-sides for the Gold Cup. Although in that situation, I could definitely see Costa Rica winning the Gold Cup.

I like USA's chances actually. I think theyre going to surprise more than 1 person here (anyone else think USA vs. Mexico at the copa america would be awesome?)

- Also aparently Venezuela is supposed to havet the best stadiums in america (that's what theyre representative said) for this cup.

I wonder how many Americans would actually be there to cheer on the US though with the current status between the two nations and all (:/)

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the draw. Brazil is Brazil and while Ecuador has done very well over the past couple of years, I feel somewhat confident that we can beat them considering our recent history against them; I don't know what to expect from Chile. I think we'll get out of the group, in which position I don't know but we'll qualify.
