There aren't that many appealing movies this year they all look mediocre.
Indy 4 looks bad and you are right about Harold and Kumar. They should have done something in Amsterdam instead of Guantanamo bay. But still that movie is famous for its craziness and there stupid journey so they might pull something off but still not the level of battlesh*ts! (H)

nah, Ironman should be good. its a great cast and Favreau is an awesome director.

the new Hulk with Ed Norton should be good too (Y)

another one Im excited about is Wanted, with James McAvoy, Morgan Freeman and Angelina. the idea is a bit too much matrix, with a "One" and all that, but there hasnt been a good explosive action movie in a while. and the trailer is packed with good sh1t (curve-bullet and all).

I really liked what they did with the concept in Batman Begins, so I too am looking forward to The Dark Knight the most ... but Ironman, Incredible Hulk, Indy 4, and Speed Racer should all be a good watch ...

one of my college roommates is a big fan of Hellboy -- one of the very few, as far as I know :D -- so I'm sure I will hear a lot of talk about the sequel ... I didn't mind the original all that much, so I suppose I'll give the sequel a chance ...

now, onto other similar matters ... I usually like comic-to-film movies, but sometimes a few come along that really do suck (Daredevil, Elektra come immediately to mind) ... the latest in that unenviable lineup might just be "Watchmen" ... they seem to have stuck to the over-the-top costumes (unlike with the X-Men movies), but then tried to make them look ... umm ... "cool" ... doubtless of course, they have failed ... here's a compare-and-contrast example:

but everything Ive seen and heard from Watchmen has been great. and it has a great director and cast. NiteOwl's costume is a little bit too much Batman-like though, I agree there, but the other costumes look great (Y)(Y)

I initially thought that the superhero names and the costumes looked a bit silly, and the premise was so typically american ... from (comic book) visuals alone, it just felt more B-list, sort of like it didn't take itself seriously ... more like "Mystery Men" ...

but maybe I was too hasty in judgment ... I personally have never read "Watchmen", but upon looking up a bit more on it, I've found that comic connoisseurs actually rate it VERY highly -- for its content and style ... and like you say, with the pretty decent cast being directed by Zack Snyder, my initial negative/jocular impression might be way off the mark ...


EDIT: (just thought of this ... oh, and pardon any chauvinism in this post scriptum: ) Malin Akerman and Carlo Gugino are going to play foxy female superheroes in this movie ... now, usually, scores of comic book fans fantasize about these superhero vixen, especially when the comic is adapted to the silver screen ... but this time, thanks to Harold & Kumar, we've already seen Ms. Akerman's lovely jubblies ... and Carlo Gugino showed her awesome knockers in Sin City ... don't know why I felt compelled to add this, but I thought you ought to know ...

It is a remake of Hulk. Ang Lee ****ed it up so badly they are trying to create one that is more true to the character or something along those lines.

its not a remake nor Hulk 2, its just a restart of the franchise since yes, most people (I thought it had its moments) hated Ang Lee's.
