Anybody here follow non-league football?
Stuff the Premiership, these leagu's are where the entertainment is. Next year they are re-structuring the whole set-up of the Conference and the feeder leagues. The Dr Martens, Ryman and Unibond league's are all really close, and exciting.
Here's the details of the re-structuring....
Firstly, no team from the Unibond (oop-north) league will gain automatic promotion to the Conference 1, as the two teams who are in contention, don’t have good enough grounds. Therefore only two teams will be relegated from the Conference 1, they are Northwich Victoria and Leigh RMI. They will go into the Conference 2.
Canvey Island and Crawley Town have already won the Ryman League, and Dr Martens league respectively so will be promoted into the Conference 1.
The Top 13 (excluding the Champions) from the Dr Martens league and the Ryman league will be in the conference 2 next year. The top 13 (including the champions) of the Unibond league will also be in the conference 2 next year.
The winners of the league’s play-offs will also be placed in the conference 2. Two teams will go from the Ryman play-offs, two from the Dr Martens play-offs and one from the Unibond play-offs. However these play-offs will also include two teams from the respective feeder leagues. (e.g. Dr Martens Eastern, or the Ryman Northern league)
Therefore the Conference 2 next year will be made up from
2 relegated conference 1 teams (Northwich and Leigh)
12 teams from the Dr Martens
12 teams from the Ryman
13 teams from the Unibond
5 Play-off winners.
The Conference 2 will then be split into two leagues, north and south. But the teams will be sorted when we know for sure who will be in the ‘conference 2 hat’
Hope that’s cleared everything up for everyone like me who was confused.
