I can't wait for this game...
Half my family lives in Mexico and My 1st love is the USA. I really hope to call Guero (my brother) and scream for a few US goals.
The good thing about this game is that even though if the US loses and I get laughed at by my family, my second favorite team goes on. I win both ways
This game is going to be so much fun... I don't know if any of you have watched a US vs Mexico game before, but they are Brutal! They could play for a cup of Ice cream and they would fight to the death.
I can't wait....
My honest prediction is 1:1 but US wins on penalties (and then loses 5-0 to Germany)

Amoo, do you really like Regis? He is good, but he makes the worst decisions - in the Italy match, he dove and let the Italian cross to Del Pierro (scoring the winning goal for Italy). That's just one example. In every match I've seen him, Regis really screwed the US because of very poor judgement.
Bloke, maybe not 5-0, but the Germans will clearly be a favourite in a USA - Germany match. If you watched their friendly a few months ago, it was 4:2 for Germany. But the match wasn't even that close: Germany won every header, every 1 on 1, everything. If they played, I think Germany will win 3:1.

My Mexico-US threads keep getting closed, so my pithy, insightful comments get lost in the electronic ether. No Agoos, the U.S. has a chance! But . . . no Hejduk, either, which creates a problem. The US has to replace two players in a defense that is already suspect and Mexico is playing really well. But the US attackers have been sniffing around the goal the whole tournament. This is going to be a GREAT match! The Euros have no idea about the intensity of this rivalry, nor does the mainstream US media. This flies below their radar, but they will be stunned at the t.v. ratings for the game. This is bragging rights for the next FOUR YEARS!!!!! gold Cup doesn't matter, CONCACAF doesn't matter. US Cup doesn't matter. All that matters until 2006 are 90 minutes beginning 11:30 pm PST. So to throw fuel on the fire: We stole California, we stole Texas, we would've stolen Gloria Trevi if she hadn't weirded out, and we'll steal this match, 2-1 on an uncalled offside goal. It's okay Mexico, we love your women, we love your beer, we love Vicente Fox, and we love playing Mexico anywhere except in Mexico City!

I think the US has a better chance to win this game than most people think. Let's not forget that the US has beaten Mexico four out of their last five meeting.
As far as those who think Germany would beat the US
5-0, Germany may have beaten us 4-2 our last meeting, but that game was in Germany. We beat them the last TWO games before that, once in the US 3 to NIL and once on neutral ground in Mexico.
Can we get a little respect please? We beat Portugal and they are like twice as good as Germany is...before they beat Paraguay, most Germans were just praying that they would make the second round. I'm sooooooo glad to hear that Germany is already convinced that they will beat whoever wins the US-Mexico game, 'cause we already know what happened to all the other overconfident, big headed sides in this WC
I'll be rooting for a US win tonight versus Mexico, but should we lose, I'll definitely swing my support over to Mexico to kick Germany's a**

Respect? I respect both the US and Germany - those are my favourite teams. However, I think you exaggerate the state of German football. Before the Paraguay match, Germany scored 8 goals against Saudi, tied with Ireland (Spain only beat them in PK), beat Cameroon (initially with 10 men), then beat Paraguay without Hamann, Ziege and Ramelow.
And those US wins over Germany were not years ago, but was also an entirely different coach.
And show respect for Germany now - Portugal is not "twice as good as Germany." Germany has only gave up one goal in 4 games - Portugal gave up how many? And they only played 3 matches.
