if you are new and inexperienced as to how the game works, start off with a stronger team. learn the ways of the game and familiarize yourself with it. experiment with tactics and schedules. people like to start using lower level teams when they have experience because its more fun, since stonger teams have a better chance of winning. but to start, take a stronger team.

that is a good good good post

same here, back in the day in 1998 playing CM9798 i started a game with Rotherham, got slaughtered.

Seriously, try with a big team in the league you know best.

E.g. If you know prem and like Liverpool a bit........ try liverpool.

I started off with a Manchester United game in the 01/02 demo. Piss easy that was.
My first game in the full version was Vitesse, I got ripped to pieces by the likes of Fortuna Sittard and Den Bosch. :(

We actually felt that this Scout program was an excellent tool and quite useful to analyse the statistics and skills of players whilst the game was in progress. The downside is that it can be used for cheating (but what works for one doesn't for another). Our own Managing Director Miles fell in love with it, but sadly used it to cheat in our own internal office network games by signing all of the best young players!

Michael Nygreen made both the scouting tool and a Pre-Game Editor and we liked them so much that we decided to hire him at Sports Interactive where he is now working directly on the official Editor for Football Manager 2005.

His scouting tool is now something we use internally to analyse the balance of the database in order to make amendments where necessary.

Good to know Nygreen is working for you as I felt his editor was somewhat better than CM's official editor... and I've never used CMScout... I think it's more rewarding to see the players you found out yourself to go on and become great players than just signing someone you're sure will be good

i think it depends on how you use it. if you're not having luck with the younger players your scouts are bringing you, and you're a ****ty team who can't allow yourself to bring in other solid players via direct transfer, i can see how you could use scout. however, if you're going to use it to all of a sudden get every single player that's worth picking up, then you're killing the point of the game.

mancini from atletico minerio, kleberson, kaka from sao paulo are all good young 1s. but afta a while of playin the same team evry week you begin to lose every game, and also it has loads of bugs. like the cups it says you have been knocked out but you havent and you never win appeals. its full of bugs so who cares about young players?:kader:
