Bah-zing! Im glad the club is pony-ing up the dough to Jose, but I think he is really gonna hear it from the fans tonight: I think his songs will be rockin the bridge (hope anyone going gets to see and join in, pede maybe?) even if he is at home, relaxing with his family. I think the boys can handle his absence, and the whole group, players, managers, etc, want to win it for him badly. Anyway, on that note of Jose love:

Duffer Defends Jose

The players are standing up and being counted. This 'us vs. the world' attitude is never good to keep perpetually, but im glad the appearance of a family is taking shape on a team that was totally refitted last year.

Oh, and the supreme masters of all that is football knowledge over at "EuroFootsie" have made it official: Chelsea FC is the world number one!
A sign of things to come?

By the way, Bilo, are you making these comps man? Good stuff if you are.

Way to come through, again bilo :rockman: Your becoming this thread's Awax

So who is "well chuffed" after that one? The late goal was a kick in the jimmy, yah, but Chelsea wouldnt be in the quarters if it were not for a dodgy (non)call so no sense greiving that.

Now, this:

My favorite part?
'4-1 would have been great to take there, 4-2 still is.... but we're a little disappointed. In the last minute we switched off and they scored.'
:jap:

This is just what how a champion talks: No trash, no complaints, no nothing except assumption of responsiblity. Frank played a game for the ages, hes absolute class, the team is class, and i know this hasnt always been how Jose and Drogba have talked, but there are always exceptions. Its also nice to see respect for the enemy who have been nothing but respectful to Chelsea

I havent been following chelsea for many years: I only "got into" them with the russian revolution when it was causing a press and transfer fury a couple of years ago during a summer in ireland (plus one cousin was a gooner, the other a manc, but chelsea got them both irate (6) ). As such im a textbook gloryhunter, but Im much like alot of american/"outside of area" fans who kind of pick a world class club to follow, but games like this, and the respect that this team is getting still awes me. Likewise, though im elated by them i always take the recent highs like this, the barca game, the CL last year, the Carling Cup final this year, with a big grain of salt: I know its been 98 years of hard times, with a few bright spots and alot of dues paid to get this success. Long may it last (Y)

Now, Brum and in 6 days, Munich again (H)

yaaaaaaaaaah....another great night at the Bridge.....this is becoming a habit :) Man it was a great game once again.Joe Coles opener sent the stadium crazy,i am so happy for that guy,he desreves all the praise he can get,he worked real hard all night. To be honest ,after that goal i could not see Bayern winning this. Our heads were up and you could feel the aura of confidence on the pitch.Even when they got one after the break, served as a wake up call to the guys.Frank banged in a beauty with his left boot.I thought the ball was too far behind him to get a good contact but he adjusted himself perfectly and it flew into the bottom corner. The place exploded again and i knew there would be more to come.Franks next goal was sublime skill, after a great chip from Maka,Frank with his back to goal took it on the chest, spun himself around with the grace and balance of a ballet dancer, and volleyed it perfectly past the outstretched arms of Kahn,3-1 and pandemonium ensued again. When the forth went in i wouldnt have believed the noise could increase but it did.The Bayern fans were singing "its coming home, footballs coming home" when it was 1-1.Now they were silent and the Bayern fans that i could see were stunned, the looks on their faces said it all. They were not used to anyone putting 4 goals past them.I think they now know that Chelsea aint just anyone.I saw the "incident" that gave Bayern the penalty. It was a theatrical dive by Ballack but the ref gave it and they scored .End of story ,its not worth wasting time arguing about them having to cheat.Where 3 minutes of injury time came from anyway i just dont know. The important thing was that we won 4-2.So they got 2 away goals which kinda helps them out a bit in the next leg but i think its just a matter of delaying the inevitable. We are gonna score in Munich, that is a sure thing,as usual it will just be a matter of how many.Bayern were a good side but not a great side, and when we realised our passing game was getting shut down by some real hard working Bayern players,we changed the tactic and played a few old fashioned long balls up to the forwards. This caused the Bayen defence big problems so we stuck with that and it payed off.Bayern seemed to have only one way to play, and when that wasn't working they didn't try to do it another way,so in the end our guys just had to concentrate on what they were doing and i think Bayerns play became quite predictable.Anyway i'm looking forward to Munich.I've got my ticket and i cannot wait for that game............ :)

Pede, i knew you would get to go, you lucky ****! Hah, im glad to hear it was a blast, and that the fans were rocking to it. Like you said about the "foul" at the end, what can ya do? It goes on all the time, and its not like Chelsea's boys are all innocent. I too am so glad to see Cole has earned his starting place when people early this year were on about selling him off. But did lamps steal the show or what? If he can carry that over to Bavaria, i think your trip will end very happy mate :D

Now, some articles, mostly great news!:

Huth set to turn down Bayern move :rockman:

Superb. This boy has played beyond his experience, and now hes getting consistent minutes. He looks like he will even grab a premiership medal, and, if we can afford to lose him next year, maybe giving him a loan for the second half, but he is true blue, and with a future star and crowd favorite, what more can you ask from a kid?

Mourinho set for new deal :rockman:
ok, so i skewed the title a bit, but other sources have said that when he was recently in Israel, he mentioned he would extend his deal. Man, would i love to see this signed and watch the press have to give up their little fantasy that he now hates the club and wants out. Time for more page 3 wenches! :hump:

Crespo Move Set :rockman:
Nothing new to report here, but im glad to see he is gonna stay at milan. He never fit at Chelsea or was given the chance, and he has found his place in Italy again. Good luck to the lad (who happens to be a decade older than me)

And lastly:
Chelsea deny wrongdoing
Better I post it than Ngyc comes in here with his two word sentences and eye rolling. When will they just stop? If the two men cant understand eachother, and theyre co-coaches, then why would they not need a translator? Just give it up already

I think you would have to be pretty naive to think there was no contact between Mourinho and the trainer.

I just watched it, i seemed pretty obvious.

Hopefully it starts another fight between Mourinho and Uefa

Congrats on the win, guys.

Drogba was worldclass! It's always good to see a fellow african doing great.

Joe Cole, Duff and Lampard are superb, too.

See you thuesday :ewan:

It doesn't matter anyway. It's not like this little piece of paper has changed the game.

It's played on the pitch, who cares what happens outside.

TheBlueBalla

Not only does it not matter, if the highlights Awax so graciously posted on the game thread ( :jap: ) are to be looked at chronologically, then that was going on in the run of Chelsea's goal scoring. What could it have said that changed anything as far as the outcome?
"Yes, thats good. Now I want the team to core more goals"
-Jose
Honestly, if it happened, it happened. The note was there, and there is nothing that can erase that. If UEFA want to make another sh!tstorm over the whole thing, go ahead, brand whoever you want, fine away, threaten to throw chelsea out, whatever. This tie has so far gone down without rancor or any trash talk because the Blues are playing a classy side, and I want it to stay that way

Can you prove it though?

Of course nobody can prove anything.

Hey, I'm Portuguese and a huge Jose Mourinho fan... of course the man had something to do with decisions along the touchline!
