Just got back from the Bridge and .....WOW....YES
We dominated this game.We sat back for the first 20 minutes ,just to see what they had. They had NOTHING.Jose waved everyone forward and from then on in the game was ours.We had an answer to every question that Liverpool asked of us,which i must admit didnt amount to much at all.Liverpool wanted points from us today so that meant that they could not employ their usual 10 man defence. They needed to actually come out and play. That was a mistake because they showed today, whatever Benitez might think, that they are far inferior to Chelsea. We attacked and looked dangerous. They defended and looked nervous.
When Billy scored his goal,Liverpool had 9 men defending the area. When the ball came in ,2 men stayed on the line and SEVEN men attacked the same ball. That left Billy,Hernan and Joe with all the room in the world to put the ball in the net.It was hilarious to watch. From that point on,Liverpool were a beaten side.Hernans 2nd goal was clearly onside and it was a peach, but the incompetant linesman got that call wrong and that was a shame. We should have won 3-0 today and could have won 5-0.Thats how bad Liverpool were.Or..thats how good we were today.A bit of both i think.
I hope this sets straight the illusion that has been created by Benitez, that Liverpool are the closest thing in terms of quality to Chelsea. They are far far away from being the real deal.In an open game of football they looked just devoid of any threat whatsoever.
I dont know if its Benitez who is tactically stupid or his players are just to thick to understand what he wants from them. They had no shape,no tactic and no idea at all.
Why waste Gerrard on the right wing when he is twice the central midfielder than Alonso will ever be? Where is the striker? They do not have one.
OK i know that they were up against the best team in England today so obviously they were gonna struggle.Carragher said earlier that we were there for the taking because of our recent 3 draws on the trot. Some people stupidly called this a blip and took it as a sign that we were slipping.WRONG.Losing 3 games on the trot might be regarded as a blip, just might be,but 3 draws?Nah i dont think so.
So Robben fell to the floor dramatically. It happens. So what.I had no sympathy for Reinna at all. That tackle on Eider was a leg breaker from behind and was worthy on its own of a red card. Then Robben called him a "prick" or something similar.Reinna takes the bait like a mug,and the "prick" raises his hands to Robbens face. That is for sure a red card.Did it matter though that the GK got sent off?Liverpool were well and truly beaten by then anyway.Their heads had dropped 30 minutes before that happened.
If Reinna had of kept his hands to himself,Robben would not have been given the opportunity to react.Although i think Reinna was gonna be down the tunnel anyway.
So another good win and another 3 points for us.More importantly it put Liverpool in their place and gave them a much needed reality check.Maybe they will now descend from cloud nine and see for themselves exactly where they stand in the order of things........Crespo is a different gravy.....he is World class...........
