I thought Scott was unfortunate because we signed Tiago and kept Smertin that season. Smertin had a great debut on the opening day(but was used rarely afterwards) and Tiago was great throughout the season. Add the form Makelele was in and his horrible injury to the equation and you can't blame him for wanting to leave that summer.

But if Parker stayed in 2005-2007 I reckon he would've had gotten enough time in the team to establish himself and play a bigger part in the coming seasons...I think the signing of Essien was what ultimately caused him to leave.

I dont think he would ever have been more than a fringe player, he wasn't as good then as he is now, he needed time as a big fish in a small pool to hone his talents.

A bit torn on who was MOTM for us. JT/Cahill were immense at the back, but Ramires was ultimately the difference maker for us.

Cole came up with his best performance of the season, kept Alves fairly under control.

But Mikel was sloppy and so was Ivanovic oddly enough.

Djidjier Drogbaa was immense! that was a bit of a masterclass, today ...

Yeah, Drogba was immense in both attack(the rare few times we did) and defense.

Taken together and in the context of the games, Drogba's pair of performances against Tottenham and then Barcelona have to be among the most inspiring, imperious and frankly heroic things I have ever seen.

Well, last chance of redemption for Fernando Torres then. It's do or die for him - if he can make a significant contribution to beating Arsenal and getting us through against Barcelona, a lot will be forgiven, if he blows it and causes us to lose these two games, the Chelsea faithful will abandon him forever.

He can't get a freekick anymore, why does he still insist he's injured?

Because he is injured. Playing as a lone striker when your team employs direct tactics, you'll always get battered and bruised.

The only problem with Drogba is that he constantly oversells the challenges he suffers during a match, but it doesn't mean that he doesn't get hurt.

0-0 at the Emirates, I'm a bit disappointed. Normally a draw away at Arsenal is fine but we really need points, and since they beat us at the Bridge I was hoping for revenge. It really was our B team though. Bertrand looks promising but Romeu wasn't as good as he was at the beginning of the season, lack of games has stalled his progress I fear.

And Torres was a nonentity yet again, really disappointing. I think we really need to consider Sturridge up front for the Barca game if Drogba doesnt recover.

Had Drogs been playing I think we would have snuck a winner on the counter attack today. Also think RDM could have been braver with his subs, Mikel on in the 65th doesnt send a positive attacking message.

I wonder how you guys are gonna get rid of Torres? Who in the world would want him?! Who would be able to pay the fee and his wages? You guys are in trouble.

Gonna have to retrain him to midfield. Unless Roman can call up his buddy at Anzhi and get them to pay through the nose for him.

What would be awesome is if you guys sold him for 5-10 millions to some random team then he regains back his goalscoring form. (H)
