god, i gotta admit, anelka is having a breakout year. i always assumed he had passed his prime long ago, but he's definitely made the jump from a second rate striker getting kicked around mid-table clubs to a legitimately threatening presence on the field. crazy.

Yeah Arsenal, PSG, Real Madrid, Fenerbahçe...all mid table teams
i forgot Fenerbahçe. i was thinking more of his performaces with city and bolton. honestly, before 2004 i couldn't follow much soccer. little kids in america without cable tv don't get much. anyway, point taken.

All the same Farmboy, you are right. He is doing incredibly well for Chelsea.

I've seen him play for all his former clubs as the years have rolled on, and although everyone knew he had a talent, that talent was overshadowed and stifled somewhat by negative stuff happening off the field.

I thought he was great for Bolton. He played well, and perhaps because he had matured somewhat by the time he got to Bolton, he was a happier individual who realised that he needed to put his head down and work hard, before he retired, otherwise he would always be remembered as a dissapointment.

When he came to Chelsea, I was pretty exited about it. I knew what he was capable of if he was serious about it, and i was hoping that he wasn't just after the money.

It seemed to me for a while, that he didn't give a damn and that he was a miserable bloke, but after getting more games under his belt he began to perform a lot better. I think it actually helped him that Drogba has been missing all season. It has given him a chance to make a good impression, and actually tie down the striker position for himself.

He is definately enjoying himself on the pitch these days. At least he actually smiles a lot more than he did, and he is scoring goals every game which is all you want from your striker.

I am pretty happy that he has settled in at Chelsea, because I thought for a while at least, that the aquisition of Anelka was a bad move. He has proved me wrong, and I am more than happy about that.

Cluj in the CL at the Bridge tonight. We need a win preferably, and I'm hoping it turns out that way.

Whatever, win lose or draw I will still be cheering the team off the pitch.

That's what a true fan does. Even more so when his/her team might be going through a difficult period. Much more prefereable than booing the team (or players), that you are meant to be "supporting".

"cough" Arsenal "cough".:innocent_smile_1:

Chelsea 2- Cluj 1.

What a sublime chip into the area from Joe, and what a wonderful finish from Drog. A real touch of class.

Cluj played exactly as they did in the first leg. Counter attacking footie, but when they lost the ball they either hit the deck like they had been fouled, or fouled a chelsea player so the ref stopped the game, and allowed them to regroup and park the bus.

Their team had some wonderful ball players, but to me all that was overshadowed by the playacting and gamesmanship, not to mention the fact that they were also quite violent at times with their tackling.

I lost count of the number of times we attacked, only for one of their players who wasn't even on the ball, to fall down with some non existant injury, looking for the ref to stop the game. (which he did far too often).

Ugly attitude from Cluj, and I'm glad they are out of it because they did not deserve anything else. They made life difficult for us to be sure, but not in a positive way in my opinion.

Our first goal occurred simply because their defence was so intent on bringing JT down that they forgot all about the ball itself. The ball found it's way through the bodies and landed at Kalou's feet, where he let fly into the goal.

We missed Lamps a lot and we still miss Ricci too, although Alex is a fine relacement apart from his marking for the Cluj goal. Ballack is still struggling to impress, and Kalou and Malouda are still not doing enough.

Anyway we finish second in the group which although not perfect, we are going to have to accept it.

Like I keep saying though, the League title is more important to me, and although I would like us to do well in the CL, I wouldn't want our chances of being EPL Champions hampered by this competition. If we had the full squad fit and healthy I wouldn't be so bothered about it, but we haven't, so I am.

What a lift to see Drog back and to see him top off his return with such a goal.

Oh how the haters were wishing for us to lose last night, which was more than evident judging by the anti Chelsea bitching in todays media.

So once again to all those pathetic individuals, up yours you wankers (Y)

I presume you mean the finger to his lips gesture Fili. Thats for the reporters who have attempted to de-stabilise Drog so far this season I guess.

We have had a non stop rumour mill from the papers regarding Drog. Is he staying? Is he going? Reports of non existant chats with the Inter bigwigs. Accusing him of being in a sulk all season. They have been pretty harsh on the guy considering that he has been hampered by injuries, and hardly set foot on the pitch so far this season.

Suddenly the attitude in the media is once more becoming hostile towards Chelsea in general. They decided for themselves that the Scolari honeymoon is over, so that makes him and us a target for their daily crap once more it seems.

You know what the sports papers are like. If there aint any news, then make some up.

Chelsea sells papers it seems, so it's open season. It's not just us TBH. They are stirring the sh!t around most other clubs too. Look at the flak Wenger and Arsenal have been getting lately off the media.

It all goes beyond actually reporting anything at all. They are intent on destabilising clubs, so that news is created as the situation at that club gets worse. Once they smell blood, it's a feeding frenzy, and the persisitant harrassment by them, seems to have an effect eventually.

Hiya Newbie.....Yeah it was a pretty goal to be sure mate (Y)

Oh I see... I really like Didier Drogba man he's just a powerhouse of a striker, I've liked him since back his Marseille days, and there as even a rumour that Porto was getting him back then, but then of course José decided to pack his bags and off went Drog to London...Besides Carvalho(and now Deco), he's been my favourite Chelsea player since he arrived and I asked that because if he meant the celebration for Scolari, that could have meant there was trouble...

Scolari and Drog get on really well.

When the newspapers say that Scolari has dropped Drog and stuck with Anelka, and Drog isn't happy.....well that BS sells newspapers it seems.

I should think Drog is pretty grateful to Scolari for not rushing him back from injury TBH. We have needed him badly at times so far this season, but Scolari has not panicked, and he knows that a fit Drogba is worth more to us as the season goes on. It's no good coming on for one game and then missing another 4 or 5.

Same thing with Joe Cole this season. Scolari just lets them recuperate from their injuries. He knows that the players are aware that they need to be missing from the squad for as little time as possible. Their place could be at risk if they are out too long, and that encourages the injured players back into the squad sooner rather than later.

So....Liverpool draw with Hull. Thats two dropped points for 'pool, and the chance for us to go top tomorrow, WHEN we beat West Ham at the Bridge.
(Y)

You gotta admire Hull though. They are playing great stuff this season, and are so hard to beat, as we have all found out. They don't park the bus. They play high tempo counter attacking football right up to the final whistle. Very committed players who perform well for their club. They have been a breath of fresh air for the EPL so far this season. They deserve at least a UEFA cup place come the end of the season. They could find themselves in the CL next season if they get some luck too. Well done to them. :)

Agreed. It's been a great season so far, partly because the newbies bring something new to the game. I tend to bet on Stoke and Hull to win more than on half the Premiership (Newcastle, Blackburn, Bolton, Fulham, West Ham, etc.)

4-0 tomorrow. You'll see.

But the way this season is going, don't be suprised if we draw as well.:D

But i guess the other results would mean that we can play with more ease.
Really missed Lamps against Cluj, with him back and Drog and Joey also available again, our attack is almost at full strength.

We're facing Franco's team here, I'm sure he wouldn't go tell his players to park the bus against us. Franco loves football too much to do that.
Its also nice to see Ol' Clarkey again as well. (Y)

Yeah, it's almost a reunion isn't it? :) Zola, Clarkey, Carlton Cole, Scott Parker. All ex-Chelsea.

If we don't grab all three points today, it will be a massive advantage thrown away. We need to take the points this time to go back to the top of the league.

The Hammers are definately struggling at the moment, and I hope that today aint the day that Franco turns things around for them.

They won't come to defend though. I think we can be sure of that. This could be a battle of the midfields, and that could get a bit messy. It will definately be competitive, that is always the case against the Hammers.

To be top of the league at Xmas time, would be all I need for a very pleasant Chrstmas. (Y)

Not so fast Sir Pete. :)
I guess Gianfranco had othe plans. :D It was a good game overall. I really liked Bellamy, i mean i was very much against the Hammers signing him but against Chelsea he performed well.

Ballack is playing well too, although he ain't getting any younger.

Zakov

Senior Squad
Ballack only got the 1st half, I'd rather have Deco subbed than him, we could've used Ballack more since he would've brought more aerial threat to our attack.
Deco is quickly fading away, I don't think Scolari should give him a granted place in the starting eleven.
I really can't wait to have a fully fit Essien back, god how we miss the Bison.

Press are reporting unsettling things inside the Chelsea camp, normal service resumed then. It was like this last season when things weren't going our way on the field. Now they're making it sound as if we've got problems off the field.
They've also reported previously that Alex handed in a transfer request, in contrast to the fact that he started and played in most of our recent games.
Doesn't look like a player who's heading out to me...........O.o

Team Captain
Zola surprised me with his tactics to be honest. They played more defensivly than I thought they would. Zola must have watched the last few home games we have played, and seen how the likes of Newcastle managed to get a point at the Bridge. Not pretty but the points are all important to relegation threatened clubs I guess.

Deco has definately faded big time. Even the easier passes are not finding their target, and it's a worry. Then he scores that wonderful goal last week right? So I would tend to think that Deco needs a little time to regain his admitted loss of form, and the only way to do that is to play through it. That's why he starts every game, because it could be the next game where everything clicks for him again.

We do miss Bison though, although I hear that his recovery is way ahead of schedule, so that's great news. I'd like to see Ricci back very soon as well. With him at the back we are less fragile than without him. Two very influencial players for us.

Definately a stone cold penalty on Lamps, and the ref was right in front of it, and saw the whole thing. So what are we to delude from that intentional refusal to give us the penalty? What indeed.

So when the wanky media are talking about a supposed crisis at the Bridge, because of the point's we've dropped at home, these facts need to be remembered. In reality that should have been 3 points to us, so the dropping of points lies solely at the referee's door once again, and not for the first or last time this season.

After the final whistle, some booing started. Most of the booing was coming from the West Ham fans (as you do), as the Chelsea players came to the fans and applauded them. Then I noticed a few Chelsea lads near me booing too, and i asked them what they were booing for. " I think its for Scott Parker and Carlton Cole ", said the fan.

So why the media decided that we booed our team off the pitch is beyond me. They even told Scolari that we booed the boys, which was not true at all. The media are scum and I fu<king hate them with a vengance, for the damage they cause.

I have seen in print this week one fabricated story after another, concerning Chelsea, it's employees or it's fans. Transfer requests that do not exist. Alledged statements by players that were not made. Players we are chasing, and players we are selling. Players mutiny, and people falling out. The same old crap whether its us, United or Arsenal. So best to simply ignore the crap, and anyone who wants to repeat it as fact.

Have we heard much about the entire Chelsea squad doing a tour of all the childrens hospitals over the last couple of weeks, distributing presents and hoping to bring a little joy to the children's Christmas? Nope, not a fu<king word.

Football equipment to African schools? Nope, yet again.

There are lots of positive things going on at Chelsea, and not all of them has anything to do with football. We have always been big in the community, and now we are big in the International community too. We do a lot of good as a club, and that's something that makes me proud to be Chelsea.

So when the media start sh!t stirring about a point dropped here and there, and how devastating it is to us, then I remember that there are many things in life more important than a game of football. More devestating things are happening around the world that a few dropped points can compare with. So the media should maybe think about that. They won't of course because they are morons. Ah, the media can kiss my arse. I don't give a monkey's what they write.

Mind you, it did make me laugh when I found out why Man U dropped their appeal to the FA over the Evra incident. They requested the transcipt of the incident before they made a decidion whether to appeal or not.

With the transcript recieved, United were stunned by the findings it seems. Thanks to C.C.T.V. evidence, and witness staements, the independant panel concluded that Gary Neville began the whole thing by being "abusive", to the Chelsea staff member, when asked to leave the pitch.

Evra was accused of returning to confront Bethall for a second time after the first altercation had finished, probably because Mike Phelan, Man U's assistant manager told Evra that Bethall had directed a racist insult at him.

A claim that was supported by goalkeeping coach Richard Hartis and fitness coach Tony Strudwick. All three came under fire from the inquiry, for the inconsistencies in their evidence, which resulted in the claims of racism being found to be non- existant. In other words they lied.

C.C.T.V. also showed Evra landing at least one punch to the Chelsea groundsman, therefore proving that Evra's claims that he never hit anyone were false.

No wonder Gill and Ferguson thought it was better for United if all this went away quietly huh?

Our next game is on Monday. Away against Everton. Should be lively. We're playing away so maybe we might get all three points this time huh? Lets ask the ref shall we? (Y)

We really do need to regain our form back at home. Even under Grant we were more solid at home. But in the Champions League, we have a horrid away form.

Everton are struggling at home. They lost to Aston Villa last time out and they have no strikers. They played Cahill upfront last game.
