Cheating to Win

I agree with most here. CPU cheats with perfect skill moves, perfect passes and constant attacking pressure. If i play as liverpool at home why would a team like birmingham have almost 60-70% possession??! in any case while i started out in Profession level I've forced myself to play in legendary level and even though the game is at time totally one sided I stay with it and found that my defensive game has improved quite a lot and I now get my fair share of wins in that mode. But you got to be fair and keep in mind losing to a team like man utd 1-0 is not a bad thing, i had my chances, missed them and they scored from one of theres, the game is hard without a doubt but it's that even sweeter when you do win.

Offline Premier league season I'm playing at the moment i'm currently 2nd in the league (as liverpool) with a game in hand, with Chelsea 1st and Man U 3rd.

I'm pretty happy with the game, it's challenging and alot of fun online, if they could work out better response time and fix the few gaming bugs then it would be perfect......... well until Fifa09 ;)

Hehe, i just finished the greatest game of the season

Bayern München - Hansa Rostock 1-0

I could have easily win by 9-10 goals(And i'm not conceited) but cpu's goalie saved every single chance. This is so pathetic..................I thought i won't even score from all these chances.

Challenging?Yes.
Enjoyable?Definetly N.O.!

i think when you play the game on different difficulties you need to change the way you attack. i played on pro difficulty from the beginning and have only just recently started to play on world class. in pro difficulty, i was able to run the ball with a star player and score nearly every time. now in world class difficulty, this isnt possible. takes awhile to adapt but i found after awhile you change your game and now im forced to play more short passes and i win probably 70% of my games on world class. its just a matter of sticking with it

I think if u wanna score goals then u must switch ur teams mentality to attacking(by using 5 of numpad). then players make more runs. 1 more thing....... In fifa08 if u play through(W) ball along thr e ground then it is likely to be intercepted but if u play aerial thro ball(Q+W) then then u create some serious chances for scoring. My biggest win was against manu playing as arsenal. 5-1!!! in world class difficulty. When u play aerial through ball the defenders get switched off.

Fifa 08 is pure S H I T! Fifa 07 is easy if you are GOOD and use powerful teams. In fifa 08 the difficulty its because CPU plays as if it uses magic, the same as in 2002 and previous versions which takes realism away. Fifa 07 has the most realistic gameplay ive ever seen.

In 07 i play LEGENDARY difficulty and 4min halftime matches. With my 5 star 99-99-97 team, i use to score 7 or more goals against any average team, 5 or 4 if they are 5 stars, and 10 or 13 if they are lower than average. But in fifa 08 using the same team and the same time length playing in world class i can barely score 1 or 2 goals!! and usually need extra time for.

I agree fifa 07 can be so easy, but when you become GOOD and use a powerful team thats obvious. But thats also because most teams are really low skilled so if you want challenge i dare you to create a 5 stars team 99 99 99 and play against it in legendary. You will see there is challenge enough to be satisfied. The CPU plays HARD, but REALISTIC, without cheating. If you win, it wont be for more than 2 goals in most occasions. But those 2 goals will make you feel satisfied because you are really earning them in a FAIR game. With my current skills i can beat such teams even by 5 or 6-0, but its not easy. So fifa 07 gameplay is just the fair thing.

Also graphics suck in fifa 08. Everything looks like very cloudy, unlike fifa 07 where everything was smoother. In resume, only very few features such as more teams available, better armband and some other additions are the only one good upgrade. Everything else went simply backwards. And im not that kind of retarded who always are against upgrades, but the opposite. But upgrades are meant to go forward, unlike in 08.

I know there are a lot of threads in here complaining about the game, but I thought I'd bring up a topic that, for me, has been a weakness in FIFA for a long time.

I remember playing FIFA 2000-2006 or so and shutting off my game out of shear frustration when the CPU would "cheat." A lot of you probably know what I'm talking about. I believe it was FIFA 2000 that would allow the CPU to slide tackle you viciously and never get carded, and sometimes not even get called for a foul. Then in 2002 the good teams would score goals from absurd distances. Almost all of these games had a "cheat" where you would suddenly lose control of your player, allowing the opponent to score. By this I mean, you player would come to a near halt for no reason, allowing the CPU to reach a ball or blow right by you. There were other forms of cheating, but I feel I've made my point.

The creators, instead of making the opposing team smarter, just gave them special abilities and advantages.

FIFA 07, my favorite installment to date, was finally rid of this. Sure, the game became quite easy to beat, but I don't think I ever quit mid-game. Gone were the cheap shots, referee bias, and loss of control.

Now in FIFA 08, the cheating has unfortunately returned. I've quit out of frustration a few times now. Some of you might say I don't like the challenge. What I don't like is the huge advantage the CPU has. They could have made the AI smarter, but instead they made them more able. I refer to:
1. The goalkeeper "guessing" which side you will shoot 95% of the time on a 1-on-1.
2. The defense stealing the ball any time there's contact. It's impossible to hold off a defender with your arm anymore. If you get close to them, you've lost possession. Of course, this is FAR from the case when they are the ones attacking.
3. When you switch to the last man on defense to prevent a breakaway, your player will frequently move the OPPOSITE direction you are pointing, leaving the attacker completely alone.
4. On more than one occasion, the CPU's defense has committed a blatent penalty on me in the box and nothing was called.

Because of cheats 1,2 and 4, I'm finding it near impossible to score on the Pro level (as a disclaimer, I used to dominate 07 on World Class), unless I get a lucky bounce or steal. The defense seems nearly impenetrable due to the super-defenders, and when I do penetrate the goalie is sure to save the shot.

These are cheats that EA intentionally built into the game, and I for one am sick of it.

Very true what you are saying,
EA have to stop this way of making games.
