Yes bro, first you open the FIFA editor tool, and then you click "Legacy explorer",

Then you go through dlc, and find a file called cmsettings, it locates as attach picture.

you can find the line named "CALSTART_YEAR", then you can change the year, after you change you can explorer the file as mod, and when you import it at FIFA MOD manager, it will work at career mod.

And now we can know is all player in the formal team can't under 16 years old, So When I change the year from 2022 to 2021 in FIFA 23, it is ok, I think it is because for example, Gavi, he's 17 years old at the first season in the game, after change, he's still not younger than 16. But when you change to 2018, maybe so many players become 13 years old, and system get crush.

it doesnt make a difference how old the players are the game doesn't put thresholds to player ages.. if you change the settings.txt and cmsettings.txt files correctly your career wont crash...
the only issue you might face is if you go back further than 2008.

Full tutorial: How to change career start date in every fifa game
I have attached pictures below for reference (xxxx references year start date... put whatever you want) As you can see i started my career in 2017, everything working correctly, I simulated till January , no crashes...

1.) Firstly you must change the cmsettings.txt file line ''CALSTART_YEAR = xxxx''

2.) Secondly you must change the compdata settings.txt file line
''0,schedule_year_start,xxxx''

3.) Thirdly you must change the careermode_closedbeta settings.txt file line
''0,schedule_year_start,xxxx''

Also you need to change competition start date accordingly ie. world cup, euros, copa america, etccc. (see below where to find)
