Chance of getting injured

I dont know if it has been mentioned before.

I 've noticed that there are almost zero injuries in a hole season!
I ve found in this folder C:\Program Files\EA Sports\FIFA 08\data\cmn
the ini file where u can make changes to gameplay.

// Chance of getting injured/winded in a collision
INJURY_PERCENTAGE = 5

// chance of getting winded vs getting injured (100 means always winded 0 means always injured).
INJURY_CHANCE_OF_WINDING = 60

I ve changed INJURY_PERCENTAGE from 5 to 30 but the game crashes!

In fifa 07 I had change this setting but I dont remember how I did it.

If somenone could help it wil be nice

If you edited the file directly then that is no surprise (it is compressed and by changing one character to two you've almost certainly damaged it)

Create a file called USER.INI in the 'FIFA 08' directory in your 'My Documents' and add the line:

INJURY_PERCENTAGE = 30

to that file, save it as text (making sure that it doesn't get a .TXT added to the end of the name) and you should be good to go.

Steve, when playing the game in Legendary the PC makes ridiculous crosses and through balls. I can't seem to find the string that disabled that. Do you know the answer?

Yes, that was what I 've done with previous fifa versions!
Thanx a lot Steve.

Best as I can tell they've removed all of the difficulty related parameters this year, so it must all be handled by internal code.

the players are easier to be injured if they do have high level of fatigue e.g scheduling too much training day or having 3 matches per week (in career mode). i think that if you made the changes after starting the manager mode the game will still read as what as the file is when it's started before :confused: so maybe you want to set INJURY_PERCENTAGE = 65 before starting the manager mode... is it right StevePitts? you are the best for this :)

No. In general the .INI parameters are read afresh each time you fire up FIFA 08, so things which are read from CAREER.INI, like the injury percentage (or ticket prices, or morale/fatigue factors etc.) can be changed in flight, but anything related to players, teams, formations etc. is stored in the manager mode data file and therefore cannot be changed (other than by events during play) once the career has been started.

Whats a good setting to use I'm going to try 30% 60% and can you change any other games settings like AI transfers, retirement age etc?????

Cheers

Some aspects of the transfer system might be controlled via the CAREER.INI parameters, but I've not experimented with those myself. Retirement age is a value in the player data, so you can make changes before starting manager mode but until someone comes out with an editor for the saved game data (and I don't think it will be too long now that I've deciphered the CRC mechanism) you cannot change them once you've started a career.

Inside CONFIG.DAT which you'll need a third party program to decipher. I would recommend Rinaldo's File Master but I believe there are others.

Oh, and when it comes to making changes I would recommend not writing back into CONFIG.DAT (it tends to be one of those files that upsets the patchers because it has been altered) but instead copy the parameters, along with any appropriate header - lines wrapped in square brackets like the [CAREER] line in CAREER.INI - into a USER.INI that you write into the 'FIFA 08' folder under 'My Documents'

Yes Steve. With the right values in career.ini you can completely lock every transfer in and out. I did it in FIFA 07 Capitan Tsubasa Patch and someone told me that this is possible also in FIFA 08!

Thanks yeah managed to work it out myself and found bits n bobs about CPU transfers etc. Just out of interest do changes I make in there transfer to a career in play or would I have to start a new one if I say changed Injury morale factors?

I believe that they are all dynamic although in some cases they won't take effect until the next time an associated event happens.

How many ways would you like??
  1. open Notepad, add the text, Save As... and navigate to the FIFA 08 folder before saving as USER.INI
  2. open an Explorer window, navigate to the FIFA 08 folder, right click and select New > Text Document, rename to USER.INI and double click on it to open with the default application for that extension and add the required text
  3. open a command window and type (all on one line) - echo parameter=value >"%USERPROFILE%\My Documents\FIFA 08\user.ini"

;)
