i think you must qualify to the european competitions even if you play with a team that participates IRL.

From what I have heard there is no Champions League or World Cup mode in Fifa 2004 which is very disappointing

What i've heard is that there is not a CL in the tournament mode but in the career mode even if you have chosen a team with european matches you'll have to reach there to play it...For example:if you are the juventus you will have to play one year and finish in the top 4 tems of the league so u can play the CL the next year
