cd drives vanished+computer messdown

So, I turn on my computer, and neither of my disk drives appear in My Computer, my DVD drive or my DVD burner. Both are properly connected. Can anyone help me fix this?

Secondly, I've been having trouble with my computer lately, when I start it up, it doesn't. what I mean is, I push the button, it turns on, but it doesn't start up to windows, I don't hear that beep you hear when the hard drive or what ever turns on, and the screen just stays black. I usually have to turn it on and off until it starts up properly, which can take up to 15 minutes of doing that. I thought it might be the power supply at first, but I tried changing the one I have with one from another computer in the house, which didn't solve anything. Any ideas what might be wrong? :(

Your bios battery is dead, or there's something wrong with the RAM, or there's a problem somewhere on the mobe. Or it's something different. 1, 2, 3, and 4 in order of probability (my thinking, no expert just yet)

try a new batt like ruud said. Now if your comp still doesnt boot and doesnt make any beep sound, start worrying because your mobo is in trouble, now if it starts normally with a new bat, check while your system starts (thats before your OS starts loading) if bios can see your cds.(thats more easy if u can actualy start bios and check from there) If it does then its a problem with your OS, not your computer
