CD Burner Problem

This is a burner that is in the tower, that came with the computer. When i burn a cd and play it, the last few songs will now skip or not play at all. And sometimes after burning a cd, a cd player wont even read the cd. Whats the deal with this? Did it just flat out break?

If i buy a new seperate burner, do i have to uninstall the original one? Or can theyboth exist?

Have you tried minimizing your burning speed? Try that. If that doesn't work, run a virus scan and make sure your computer is free of any viruses. A virus may be affecting your CD Burner. If that doesn't help, try defragging your hard drive. You may be experiencing Buffer Underrun.

and if its not that i can be many other things like non-compatible media (CDs that is) or you are burning the CD with an uncompatible format

I have no programs running, and the cd's are compatible because they worked before.

Im gonna defrag now.

How old's the comp? If its about 2 or 3 i figure you're having burner burnout. Just burn at low speeds until it just stops working at all.

Its working ok now. the defrag and virus check did it i think.

But the dvd drive wont even recognize my dvd's now.
