There is this 21 yr old Brazilian I want to sign and his contract expires in 1 month, however there still isnt an option to approach to sign for free. Why is that? I have notices this for a while now...

hey adi, think it may be to do with what club you are and what country you're attempting to buy from.

As Ruud pointed out in another thread, Brazil have some wacky rules on youngsters, my advice would be to shortlist him and wait until the end of his contract, you'll know if someone makes a bid for him.

Hope Soccergrip's good! hehe

ill just let the contract run out and see what happens. Soccergrip is doing alright, but it would be better with you! :)

Bosman ruling outside europe??? isn't that EU-only?

I'm not completly sure, but I thought the main thing behind the Bosman rule was that you could agree too sign the player on a free before there contract has ended

The main thing was that teams couldn't ask transfer fees after the contracts ended.

I'm not sure it's EU-only. EU-thing might just be about EU players not being allowed to count as foreign players under EU economical/emancipational treaties.

I thought it only applied if you're transferring a player from an EU country to another, so Ronaldinho could do a Bosman from Barcelona to Liverpool (wishful thinking), but not from Barça to a Brazilian club and the same thing the other way around, though Brazil do have some legislation on player contracts...

I'll check some stuff, and post later...

I've checked brazilian law, and the player is free to sign after his contract has ended... it doesn't say anything about pre-contracts though, so I guess you can't sign them for free before their contract has ended...
