For many years gamers have argued which is better, FIFA or Pro Evolution. On one hand, FIFA fans argue the virtue of the accessible gameplay which allows for beginners to get to grips with the controls and have fun immediately while Pro Evolution offers a purist ideal of football, a simulation as opposed to arcade style kickabout.
Nothing can seperate these giants of the footballing world except for one thing.
Except for one man.
A legend.
And that legend is...
Chris James
His commentating on Pro Evolution Soccer elevated him from idle spectator to footballing god whose skill at entertaining throughout the game cannot be touched. "Short pass" he would lazily whisper into our eager ears. He would tease us with his open ended questions such as "How will things unfold" and provide drama with moments such as "I won't tell you what I'm thinking now!"
Then there's his comedy sidekick Terry Butcher, the rotund Pancho to Chris James' masterful Don Quixote. He would provide the laugher and amusement, as Chris James often had to remind him what was taking place on the pitch ("No just wide Terry!" "Can we see a replay of that?")
Together, they could have conquered the footballing world and our hearts but alas, they were ripped away, replaced by evil drones Peter Brackely and Trevor Brooking.
Reinstate them as the elder statesmen of football and hand the ruins of sport genius back where it belongs: in the rightful hands of Chris James and Terry Butcher
