Who should replace him? Defoe replace Donkey Heskey? And ??? replace Butt?

They have enough central midfielders already. Dyer and Hargreaves are very versatile so they can play.

I don't think England need to replace Butt. What they can do now is play Bridge on the left with Gerrard/Lampard, Scholes/Lampard and Beckham or just leave out Bridges and play Scholes, Gerrard, Lampard and Beckham.

well, he wasn't gonna start anyways, so i guess it wasn't really that big of a loss. but he was england's best sub for a holding/defensive midfielder.

but i hope he heals fast. tough luck, really. even if you weren't gonna play, you'd still wanna be there training and hanging out with the team. always so unlucky, he is.
