and don't give me any post 9-11 era bs...capturing those involved with 9-11 has nil to do with nation building...i.e. Iraq

Yeah, a discussion of the Flip-Flopper in Chief has been going on in another thread. But it bears repeating. Even a cursory look at the records of the candidates reveals that Bush never met a side of an issue he didn't like. The description of Kerry as a flip-flopper is a construction of dishonest Republicans and the conservatively biased media. It was created by GOP strategists as a "pre-emptive strike" if you will against the inevitable discussion of Bush's glaring inconsistencies, and disseminated without any kind of thought or proof or evidence by the Bush-friendly media. That way, when people are confronted with Bush's flip-flops, they say, "But . . . FOX News told me Kerry is the flip-flopper! You must be wrong!" Watch people like Elder struggle and falter as they try to prove Kerry is a flip-flopper. Sadly the media doesn't hold anyone trying to smear John Kerry to any reasonable journalistic standard. Want to talk sh*t about Kerry? They'll arrange the air time. Just like the hatchet job they did on Al Gore.

Bush's flip-flops are all the more egregious because they aren't based on critical reevaluations, they come from the fact that he has no ehtical or political convictions whatsoever, and thus can be swayed by the slightest breeze of popular opinion or by whoever has enough money to get in his ear. But I think this is the worst of many, because it not only shows how he flip-flops, but also shows how soft he is on terrorism:
