i just played rugby today for my schools 'a' s and some guy stamped on thigh like an inch from my ballzak 
In the higher levels of school rigby it gets pretty violent, especially ... **** i forgot what its called... when you scrape your studs over the opponents body after hes rucked. Most of my friends have bigass scars down their side.
Once the ball is out of the scrum, all hell breaks loss

I dont see how you can even compare these two sports when they arent even close to being the same. I know American football evolved from Rugby but its too different of a game now. My friends and I have talked about it before and we agree that Rugby is more physical as a whole and you have to be tough to play, but that it doesnt mean that the NFL is not tough. American football is I think alittle more complex of a game(rules wise) and where you have to learn hundreds of plays sometimes yearly. Also the NFL isnt supposed to be all physical like Rugby is, there is alot of Finese and speed involved besides the physical part of the game.
