The Memorial Stadium could play host to Iraq
Bristol Rovers have held preliminary talks to play a match against the Iraqi national team.
It would mark the 50th anniversary of the first Iraqi player to play in Britain, Youra Eshaya who was on Rovers' books in 1954.
A Rovers' spokesman said: "It is under consideration at the moment.
"It is in the early stages but it is definitely a possibility."
"There are two reasons this thing has come out - the first is that the FA have arranged for the Iraqi national side to come over for a training camp.
"The second reason is the fact we did have an Iraqi player on our books 50 years ago.
"Youra Eshaya played for our colts and our reserve side and, although he could not get the necessary paperwork to play for the first team, there is a link there
