Well i've written my next article for The Bootroom (as i finally have some time), here is a brief description and a link to the full article:

‘Arsenal have completed the signing of the highly-anticipated 16 year old Theo Walcott from Southampton for a fee of £5m, that may rise to £12.5m’. Is it me or is there something decidedly wrong with this transfer? With this in mind, The Bootroom decided to take a look at some of the most famous gambles on young players made over the past few years: The success stories of the youngsters who broke the mould and repaid the debt, forever establishing themselves in footballing folklore, and uncovering the forgotten horrors that the footballing world believed we would forget. Shocked faces at the ready as we divulge the answer to that most important of all questions; “Did he really cost that much!?”

Thanks.

If Newcastle United do 'carpet-bomb' the youths-market, can you really talk about 'intelligent purchases' when they get a couple good ones in the middle? :p

Tom

yes you can, im not saying they are all inteligent, or that they are all using a carpet-bombing technique. I was saying that most of the transfers are done via one of the ways i just mentioned, ill leave you to figure that out.

Thanks for your praise again Ruud, its nice to know you value my work seriously...

Very well written. I usually get bored through articles like this and just skim through the rest. Not this time though, you did a good job of keeping me interested. (Y)

Adding to Francis Jeffers... when he was on loan at Rangers all he did was get a yellow card in the 14 matches he played.

Nice article tom, on an interesting topic aswell. I'm suprised the name of Titus Bramble didn't pop up in the disguised newcastle rant (H)

yeh i had a few suggestions to put him im, but to be fair the advantage of journalism is that you can project your view of the "truth".

I bet you didnt read many bad references towards Liverpool (H)

haha yea it was a good read. Newcastle is hilariously pathetic in the transfer business (6) looks like Luque is the next one.

Tom

luque wasnt young though, more worryingly the only ones i stated there are young players they signed...

to be a great journalist you have to have a brilliant way of thinking and be a fascinating person, your article is good...

i disagree Horatiu, to be a great journalist you have to keep the reader reading, and when he finishes reading it, to be left wanting more. Thats the art of a good article-based journalist
