I feel for him, even though he plays for Leeds.
2 years out with knee and achilles problems, as well as overcoming a bout of meningitis and now, in his second start since, his achilles tendon has ruptured and he'll be out for at least the rest of this season.
Add that too Leeds' current form; Mills and Smith demanding new contracts that double their current pay; £10s of millions (£60? £80? +?) in debt; Bowyer about to get banned for his appalling kick and stamp (got to sort his attitude out - I think he's the player I like least in world football atm). Looks like Leeds are going through a rough patch. Relegation?
Yeah, i really hope not. It has been the worst season for Leeds jsut about ever. They sacked David O'Leary thinking that he is playing his team well, BUT not winning anything. They figured if the team was winning games but not tournaments, then it must be something the manager is doing wrong. So they bring El Tel to the club, and we've gone just about straight down hill, especially after our 1-0 win against Man Utd earlier this year.
I think that whilst O'Leary was winning games, and finishing high and late in everything, then some silverware was just around the corner...Now look at things, the club has been ruined. EVERYTHING O'Leary accomplished has been thrown away. He built a great squad capable of Champions League Semi Finals, and consistently finishing high in the League.
El Tel has had a bad run with injuries, but he seemed to be doing tihngs wrong from the outset. Not playing Dacourt, playing Leeds in a defensive 4-3-3 (closer to a 4-3-2-1), selling Keane etc etc.
From the start of the year, we should have been playing an attacking diamond 4-4-2, this is the style suited to Leeds.
Mills and Harte/Matteo on the wings in defence, Woodgate and Matteo/Radebe in the centre, Dacourt playing that key DCM role, Kewell on the left Wing, Bowyer on the right, and Smith supporting Fowler and Viduka, Viduka and Keane Or Fowler and Keane upfront...
Instead we've been left with Barmby who really hasnt done much for the club, and is someone we never needed. Okon, who was virtually picked up for what he is worth in a current transfer market (nothing), and sold Keane, who has gone on to show what he can do in the EPL if given First Team footy.
The ONLY smart thing El Tel has seemed to do on the field this season is start Robinson ahead of an aging Martyn. Other than that, he has done what the board wanted, get rid of players...but he has gotten rid of the wrong guy (a young up and coming PROMISING striker, why not sell Viduka, he'd be worth more money, and worth less to Leeds in my opinion!), then spent needed money on Barmby, Okon and Lucic, players that we really dont need!
Maybe El Tel was playing CM and saw how good Teddy was in that?? He has been an alright purchase, perhaps better than the other two, but we dont need him..
I think that Leeds needs a manager, not a coach.
Cheers
