Brazilian wonderkid Kerlon and his SEAL DRIBBLE

Yehey, who's mad? (H)

I simply think it is cool to do that stuff in a match with your friends, just fooling around..in an official match I think that whoever does that is a strong candidate to get hardly tackled in every possible way..it may be seen by most of the players as if he's mocking them.
I even have a video of the perfect tackle to stop the guy, but I didn't know how to upload it to be on this reply

Good luck for his future seal tricks anyway :fool:

Hey, don't knock the kid because of that. It takes a great spirit to come up with something new and try it out in real competition. Most of you wouldn't even have the balls to do it in front of your team mates, in a regular practice. Plus, this is a really risky move, as seen in that vid.

Having said that, I doubt it is effective, simply because:
A) a smart defender will position himself in front of Kerlon, like a wall waiting for Max Biagi.

B) Even if he gets past defenders, how the hell will he get the ball quickly back into a shooting or passing position? Remember those are soft head-touches on the ball, so it has little momentum.

YELLOW CARD - Sarcasm
I found the Columbian defenders attempt at a tackle laughable, a swing right to the torso.

Fair play to him, he looks like one for the future definetly, even when hewasn't doing that trick, he looked to have a really tight control on the ball. Very Maradona-esc

I think it's funny how people get mad at him for doing that.. I mean... you could get mad at the defenders because they can't get the ball from him but he's only doing his job... yeah, I'd be mad if I were playing against him but I'd be mad too if someone did an "elastico" or stepovers... he's just trying to find his way through the defence, and it's working so why not? the day defenders learn how to stop it, he won't try it anymore...
He does look stupid but he gets what he wants so I guess he's the one profitting from it
of course as a supporter, I'd love to brake the legs of some players, but I guess when you're a player you respect other players a lot more... enough not to want to tear him apart, that is

I find the whole move kind of retarded, as someone said above it looks as if he were "mocking" the other players. I would have personally left that trick to be done with teammates, and yes I would have the balls to do it with other friends... :)

You'd also need the talent, you know...

Ok, maybe I don't have that....

But my view on this is that I think that it is disrespectful to the opposition if you are doing this kind of a move in a real game, I could see this move being done perfectly with friends in the street. I could even see this kind of a move being done in a friendly beneficiary matches, but in a competition, I don't know...

Help?

Any move that works can be braded as disrespectfull. I don't see how well worked stepovers make the opposition looks not as bad, then compared to those keep ups. Just because people haven't used that move a lot in the games, doesn't mean that it is disrespectfull, imo a nutmeg between the legs is much more disrespectfull. We shouldn't attack the guy for using his imagination and thinking of something new.

Does anyone have a better clip of this guy doing the "seal"?? The one in the link isnt too good. The flash one is alright though.

The problem is that the oponnents can't do nothing about it. There is nothing in the rules that stops Kerlon for doing that. Sweet move by the way. The other players look like jerks. I still question if they were looking for the ball or for Kerlon's head.

This guy is at least trying to liven up the game, unlike a lot of other players. That being said, it's risky and he could easily be injured by someone who's not as light-hearted as he is.

that is a nice move.

actually i'm not boasting about myself but i can do a mov3e a bit simiar to that...the guys at my local place call it the rvr run.
i basically am a yoga student so i can pull in my stomach about 5 inches.the crater like gap created allows me to store the ball in it for about 6-7 seconds.i can run over 10 -15 meters with that.but my respiuratory system loses alot of breath and i get tired soon.
it is damn effective.
but the opposition just seem to kick me all the time.
so the refs have banned my move! (6)

I remeber a while back Calgary vs San jose Stanley cup, some idiot on san jose stood in front of an empty net (goalie was pulled out) for like 5 seconds waiting for a calgary player to get to him and then shot it in. He got his ass kicked by the whole calgary team and of course led to a huge fight. I yelled at the tv go back to russia. Don Cherry was angry, and explained why he called crosby hotdog player with this example.

I wasn't surprised that kerlon got checked, talk about NOT USING YOUR HEAD! Still impressive, but more impressive is his goal scoring tally which should KEEP UP! My crappy puns can't get more obvious.

I am not saying that the move cannot be done in a real game or it is illegal to do it, I (thus my personal opinion, you can disagree you know...) is that this move should be reserved for a trick contest. There is a difference between this move and a nutmeg, in the sense that with a nutmeg you are using your feet, but whatever, this is my view of soccer. I also believe that some players who usually do a nutmeg, Andres D'Alessandro, for example, are often tackled very hard because other players do not find it very amusing, especially if they are older players with a lot of experience.

What the Frick is soccer to you guys anyway?!?!

lets all play italian sit back defend pass around heaven forbid dribbling for more than a meter....blah blah BORING! :nape:

Im glad someone comes along and says "hey! Im gonna make my opponents look like idiots! Im gonna show off to the crowd! Im gonna look sweet for the cameras while I pass defenders and make them look bad for the cameras! Im not gonna be shy to use my God given talent because its more than the defeners have. Hey Im gonna liven the game add atmosphere and since Im the top scorer have something else to be remembered by"!

He did this against equador on a counter attack and set the a beautiful goal. I hope he does this when he makes it to the big leagues, though it will be nearly impossible to do.

You can discuss all you want as how you would stop him, but most of these kids at a U17 level are better than most of us now.

we're just saying it's unwise to do something like that, you become a target for the team. There are players who chop that guys legs down and while he's out for 2 weeks, that defender is out for a game. At this level it's just a little unwise to do it and in the end he did get fouled, great move none the less.

IMO, getting an opposing player red carded for it is pretty good.
