The Chechnyan Independence struggle is not typically parallel to the global jihad of Al Qaeda and the like, though there are several links between Chechnyan rebel groups and AQ. If that is true, we have to say at the least that it is once more evidence that Islam has the potential to lay the psychological foundation for expressing frustration/pursuing resistance in this way.

EDIT: Chechnyan muslims are monsters by the way, if they want a wife they just get a few mates together, drive down the road and kidnap a young girl as she comes out of school.

What baffles me is how they can get in the heads of these people, many of whom are very young and they make them do the most horrific things. This guy is an MIT student so he's not stupid but at the same time whatever they told him was so impressionable that it made him want to kill Americans and basically give up his life. This guy had reasons to live based on the fact he was going to one of the most prestigious Universities in this country and he had some talents. Its crazy shit like this that I don't get.
