OK, guys, I've SOLVED IT!!!!!!!!
This is to fix the problem with FIFA09 crashing in manager mode if you have more than 45 players at the beginning of a season.
CREATE A COPY OF YOUR MANAGER FILE BEFORE STARTING THIS FIX.
Well, I've solved the problem with the program crashing if you have more than 45 players on your squad. Using the idea from SteveP1tts, install Rinaldo's Internal Master 09.
Once that is done, load your manager mode career file. It might look like gibberish, but have a pen and pad handy and you will be fine.
Firstly, in the left hand panel, go to Career Overall History. Here you will find a list of all the players on your squad. Clicking on the grey bar beside the Player ID Number shows the players last name at the top of the Screen.
In my example, I've selected the first entry which is Fabregas. Make a note of the name of the player and the corresponding Player ID Entry!!! I cannot stress this enough. Next step is to go to the Record option on the drop down menu and select Delete.
Continue through the list to remove players that you think you can do without (until you're down to about 44 or so, just to be safe). Sure, you'll lose whatever transfer fee you could get for them, but at least you'll be able to continue your game. Again, be sure to make a note on a piece of paper what player id corresponds to which player as you'll go on to other screens where the player surname is not listed, so all you'll have to work with is the Player ID.
Once you've established which players are getting axed, continue thru the left panel and repeat the process for each of the following items:
Team Player Links
Career Players Grown Attributes
Career Player Growth XP
Career Extra User Team Info
Once you're sure you've removed these players from all aspects of the manager file, go to file --> save and overwrite the buggy file.
Start Fifa 09, select your manager mode file, and continue playing. Have FUN!!
