What kind of system you got bro, maybe you don't meet the system requirements? Did you read the system requirements on the official site?
If is not that then download the latest directX even tho it should had itnstalled with the game.

I don't hate people for playing warez, what i do hate is buying a game and having it be pure crap.
I sometimes like to try it out first......

System Req according to Installation Guide:
Win 98, 350P2, 64RAM, 4xCD, 450MB, 16MB 3D Card, DirectX8.1

My system:
Win 98, 366P2, 256RAM, 32xCD, 6GB, 16MB Diamond Viper 550, DirectX 8.1 (i guess bc it didnt prompt to install)

On the installation cover it says specifically what the video card needs:
"16MB Direct3D capable video card, using the NVIDIA GeForce4, NVIDIA GeForce3, NVIDIA GeForce256, NVIDIA Riva TNT2, NVIDIA Riva TNT, NVIDIA Quadro, 3dfx Voodoo5, 3dfx Voodoo 4, ATI Radeon 8500, ATI Radeon, Matrox Parhelia, Matrox MGA-G550, Matrox MGA-G450, Matrox MGA-G400, SIS Xabre, or Intel i810 chipset with DirectX 8.1 compatible driver.

Now that to me is all gibberish. All I know is i have a 16MB Diamond Viper 500 Video Card. In my display properties there's a tab that says RIVA TNT and its got a list of drivers used and such and such. To me my system meets all requirements and i still cant play

oh my god, i wasn't going to write anything then i saw how STUPID people just reacted to how he described his game, lol. A copy out of the box, yeah, i have one too and i payed freaking 40 bucks for mine, a copy, which is a 2 CD product of EA SPORTS Fifa Soccer 2003 bought from EB Games mainly distributed throughout North America and the world. Very very mature display there guys, assumptions, a lil thing i learned...."when you ASSUME, you make an ASS of U and ME." lol.
Neway, Cliffkram, this happens to me after a while. Make sure you do not have the creation center installed before you installed the game, this could be the reason. Another reason is you might want to update your drivers for your videocard, the newest one is the 44.03 and it can be found www.nvidia.com. You might also want to check your soccer.ini file. what you might need to do, to save from the startup screenies is put VIDEO = 0 instead of = 1
- The black screen does that sometimes, because for one it is checking for 3d acceleration and since you have a low low video card it might take a lil longer. Last thing, you should update ur directx version to 9.0a instead of 8- go to www.microsoft.com and then put in a search for DIRECTX.
hope this helps man and good luck. i highly recommend getting a better video card, the next best one after the riva is probably the MX series, not too expensive, check online. If you need ne other technical help just PM me and ignore what these dumbasses say when it's not constructive, it shows how mature most of the community is,huh?
take it easy.

yeah, but i got it when it first came out, you bought urs just recently, right? so of course price would go down it is only 20 bucks at Best Buy. Glad your game is working now man, enjoy and remember a newer videocard wouldn't hurt, you could probably see the numbers,ya never know.

This at least solved my black screen at startup. People who don't have Zonealarm (a firewall) this will not help you. When I started the game the first time Zonealarm asked if i wanted to give FIFA2003 permission to use the internet. I didn't notice it before the 20th time trying to run the game. The messagebox was there all the time, but hid "behind" the black fifa screen. I somehow managed to get some other program running, and the fifa2003 got minimized and then I could see the Zonealarm popup. After that the game finally starts
