Haha, I read all the PUA stuff after reading The Game, but it's all gimmicky as ****.

I tried some of it with very little success. All it did was help me get out of my shell, but after that I had more success just making conversation or other obvious stuff.

Yeah, I never got around to using much of PUA, or even reading all the extensively, but it did help me get in a better mentality but yeah, PUA should always be more about giving you the support and building blocks you need to get started, after that natural game is always best.

Just walk up to her and say "So, have you come up with what we're doing on our first date yet?"

Whatever her response, it's a good ice breaker and gives you something to talk about. I've had instances where I've gone on with her for almost the entire night just being stupid and and coming up with silly ideas for the "first date"..

But in all honesty, you don't need any routine or line...just being comfortable with who you are and a slight sense of humor should be enough to talk to any girl. Oh, and balls to actually approach (or enough liquid courage).

Yeah, but that's because you go out trying so much (or so it seems). Doesn't say anything about your success rate. And even then, you're in Estonia!!? Finally, the more you pick up, the more you will. You naturally discover what works for you.

Your problem is you tried to do what they did. That's not the idea of ANY of the books, and you'll notice that 99% of the books don't tell you what to do and say (though they give examples to illustrate) they tell you what you're trying to ACHIEVE by doing or saying whatever it is.

It's gimmicky, if you use their material because that's exactly what it is - a gimmick. IF you understand the theory, and do it yourself, it's great.

Though I think if it's about getting in a better head state, then you DID use it. As I said "using it" isn't about using their examples - they actually often tell you not to. It's about understanding why their examples work.

Yep definitely true. Approach is so hard for loads of guys. So they drink until they can do it, by which case they come across as drunk guys trying to pick up (which is what they are).

I did mention at the start of the thread that the idea of this thread wasn't because I thought lines worked. I think they're generally terrible and cheesey. Though there are some ones that work a bit (yours is actually an example of that).

Humour is great. And not being so obvious with going in to pick up a girl (not just going in to chat) is often a good start too.

I get what you're saying, but as an analytical person all it did was get me more in my head instead of just enjoying the moment. And the women sensed it, because they didn't react to what I did. I had fleeting success with canned stuff and the theory (time restraints, DHV, negs, being cocky and funny and whatever other techniques there were).

My remedy was booze, because after that I stopped giving a ****, dropped the techniques and just went with my gut. It worked a lot better. I guess it just isn't for everyone. Some of the stuff I do is based on it you could say, but it's a lot more loosely and I think it fits me better.

Yeah being natural is huge. That's the only positive of canned material. It's great to practice with, until you get natural with how it should flow.

The only way to get it naturally is practice. It WILL raise your success rate long term, but may lower it short term. But honestly, if girls can see right through it, you're doing it wrong.

Girls can CERTAINLY see right through the ten sleazy guys approaching them each night, offering them drinks, complimenting their shoes/dress/hair etc, making jokes blah blah blah

I dont try at all, I go out to get drunk, and sometimes that involves meeting people. My alcoholism will always trump my sexual desires.
