Hi all,

Just putting this question out there to see if anyone has the answer.

Every time someone offers me a modified initfs file for FIFA 18, I can never use it, as the game just doesn't start (after clicking play).

There are lots of differing initfs out there, from changing LODs to Gameplay changes. Trouble is, I can not use them or try something out myself. My guess is that the bcrypt.dll is not working with FIFA 18.

NOTE:
  • I have tried multiple versions of the bcrypt.dll file
  • I have tried multiple versions of the initfs file
  • FrostyEditor worked fine for me in FIFA 17 (which included bcrypt.dll)
  • I have all the recommended MS components
  • I am updated to the latest version of FIFA 18 (through Origin, legal version)

Any ideas?

bcrypt with fifa 18 is working ...... one thing is after the update it has caused a few problems .. best to remove bcrypt all together .. repair the game run the game once ... ie go into the main menu then exit ... place the bcrypt in the main folder and the edited ini file and all should be well.... as u say that it worked with fifa 17 ur pc will be fine with it

weird ..... when you click play ... check the task manager and see if Orgin activation.EXE is running .......

Nope. I can see another FIFA 18 process (as normal). It just disappears within a few seconds. It is obvious that something is bugging out and crashing.

You're right. bcrypt.dll isn't working for me either. The game does start but nothing changes. RC's LOD didn't work on my FiFA 18.

I noticed some mods include this bcrypt.dll file. What does it do? I've never heard of it until this year.

Not sure, but seems like it allows the modified init_fs to work.

I think that's the reason why LOD was still low on gameplay when I used RC's mod. It's not even working/ working improperly. Same happened when I used Fidel's Self Shadow mod in GP cam, I couldn't see self Shadows.

I am still unable to rectify this issue. I am wondering whether the people that can use it are not using Origin.

It is a pity really. init_fs would give us more modding opportunities than simple config.init_fs overrides the locale.ini so we need to at least disable all those configurations to allow easier use of locale.ini.

There really isn't a lot of anything related to AI in the initfs_Win32 file.

The bcrypt.dll is what allows the game to launch when Frostbite files aren't 100% authenticated.

Have you got the initfs file in its original format but decrypted? Perhaps we could start from there? Its weird that my laptop has little to no success with these files but my PC does. There shouldn't be any difference between them in reality.

(If you want to hand me the file with the ADAPTIVE DIFFICULTY turned off that would an interesting start)

So my problems continue with my laptop not accepting the bcrypt / mod files / initfs from Frosty, while my PC is perfectly fine with it. Strange. No antivirus or any of that rubbish on either.

The only difference between the two is the PC is Win10 Pro & the laptop is Win10 Home. I don't particularly want to reformat my laptop to use Win10 Pro. Hmm...

Thanks mate. It may come to that.

I just realised another variance between the two machines. My laptop is using a Windows Sign-In rather than a local profile. Never know what could cause these issues. Although I know I am not alone here.

Can it really be? I'm not using a local profile either. I'm using my MS account and I get issues with bcrypt.dll even though the latest bcrypt that I have fro, RC's LOD works just fine.

Just switched my profile to a local one. Didn't fix the issue. This is so weird. No matter what initfs I try it dont work on the laptop. Means I cannot do my modding on my laptop & the mod wont work on some people's machines.
