Wow. Great way to promote distributed computing as well.. But it would be nice if we got payed for making others use our computer's resources
For those interested in distributed computing, there's a distributed operating system I've tried months ago called Plan 9 from Bell Labs (yeah I know, weird name). It uses a simple protocol to make it possible to offer or request resources to other computers using that protocol. Those BBC researchers could've made use of it but I don't think many people will agree to download a UNIX-like operating system for a sake of an experiment done by others.
