Wow. Great way to promote distributed computing as well.. But it would be nice if we got payed for making others use our computer's resources :p
For those interested in distributed computing, there's a distributed operating system I've tried months ago called Plan 9 from Bell Labs (yeah I know, weird name). It uses a simple protocol to make it possible to offer or request resources to other computers using that protocol. Those BBC researchers could've made use of it but I don't think many people will agree to download a UNIX-like operating system for a sake of an experiment done by others.
