I think it has to do with the player itself. I don't think Poldi wants to get out of Germany.
Apparently he wasn't averse to it but he left the decision to Bayern. Thanks to Klinsmann's appointment we'll probably have to endure another season with Schweinsteiger and Podolski. Hopefully be'll be more ruthless than Hitzfeld in this regard.

With that money we could've bought a decent third choice striker who could actually find the back of the net on a regular basis.

Now we're being linked with Lehmann. Possible goalkeeping coach and Rensing's backup. Oh come on now...

Haven't checked in for awhile, but I'm very happy about where the team is going. I've always been a huge fan of Borowski, and definitely Klinsman.

I think a statement like this suits the club because it makes them seem bigger to be able to laugh off stuff like this. when in reality they know that it wouldn't have been all bad. maybe Poldi didn't wanna go to Man City because he might not crack the squad too frequent and wouldn't do well in the Prem yet so he wouldn't have agreed to it anyways.

The Von Trapps
i must say, €18M sounds pretty good ... would have been interesting to see how well he would have done in the prem and under sven ...

but i don't think poldi (and schweini) staying is that bad a thing at all ... watch klinsi play a system that will bring out the best in both them and the team -- he's done it before, and he deserves the benefit of doubt for now ...

Hendrik: out of curiosity, who would you have gotten as that third-choice striker?

With KLINSI next year Schweini and Poldi could make miracles, so I agree if they stay with us, but 18 millions is a very high quotation, with that money we could get a guy like Huntelaar 4 example, however we need a new striker and it does not depends on Poldi, Schlaudraff is not a center forward and we've only Toni and Klose, too few for me.
The real trouble is created by the player who are gonna leaving FCB:
Kahn, end of career, Lahm to Barcelona, Sagnol+Lucio+van Buyten, 2 on 3 will leave Bayern in summer, then what do we do with guys like Schweini and Poldi? Then, Ottl says that he wants to play much more if FCB wants him to stay, Schlaudraff, etc. Remember we've lost Ismael and Mats Hummels this january, and Breno is still too young (18).....
We'll see.
p.s. Lehmann? NO THANKS!!!!! He's a fckn @@@@@@@!(6)
p.s. like 2nd keeper I wish Simon Jentzsch, it does not matter if he played with 1860......like a certain Jens JERRY Jeremies 9 years ago......

thought you should know:

"...The third thought is: if Bild was left so completely in the dark, that means Franz Beckenbauer was very probably not privy to the negotiations.

And only then do you get to a normal person's considerations, meaning: a lot of people will be miffed, a lot of changes will be made ... wow, this is going to be very interesting. This is almost unbelievable!

In fact, this is so extraordinary that I have to severly disappoint you: I don't have the slightest idea what it'll all lead to. Last week, I got an e-mail from someone in China who wrote: 'I want to discuss something about Jürgen Klinsmann's future assistant. I will be very pleased if you can give me some suggestions and opinions on this topic. Who do you think will be "Bayern's Joachim Löw"?'

That was an excellent question, of course. I replied that it was very hard to answer because if Klinsmann's role with the national team was anything to go by he'd certainly need a number two man who is for all practical purposes a number one man. Meaning obvious choices like Jürgen Klopp or Ralf Rangnick would probably have to be ruled out, as they like to run the show themselves.

I was about to type that I wouldn't be surprised if Klinsmann was looking for someone from outside of Germany, given his propensity for wiping the slate clean before starting and given that Bayern were so fond of Giovanni Trapattoni but bemoaned the language problem. (Which wouldn't be a problem with Klinsmann as a foreigner's boss.) Then the colleague mentioned above told me that there was a report coming in about Osvaldo Ardiles as a potential assistant for Klinsmann. Now, this was a name that had not crossed my mind, but it immediately sounded good to my ears.

And so I guess there are interesting weeks and months ahead of us, because no matter what you think of Bayern's Klinsmann deal it will surely lead to new developments. Some of which might even be a tad unbelievable. "

Senior Squad
Lehmann as goalkeeping coach? That'd be a slap in the face to Ollie...considering how them two always duked it out in the press about who is better and who deserves the No.1 in Germany. I think Ollie should automatically get the goalkeeping coach position and an even higher position in the team down the road. For someone who has given the squad so much for so many years, you don't just bring a rival into the squad.

If they do that, expect a lot of used Bayern jerseys to be selling on eBay from the California area...

Agreed BayernBoz. You simply can't do that to a bloke who has given.. what.. 16+ years of great service to the club. Lehmann won't be anywhere near the Säbener Strasse! Even though Ollie is starting to irritate me this season :(

Hansa Rostock v Bayern Munich.

YAY! About time the Bundesliga is back on again.

Will be intersting to see what line-up Ottmar uses.
Sagnol or Lell?

We have no Rensing, Jansen, Breno, Schweinsteiger or Podolski.
Even still, should be far too strong. 2-1 win my backing.

Are u ready guys???????? -28 minutes...........let's go BAYERN!

31.01.2008

After sealing a berth in the last eight of the DFB German Cup, Bayern are now keen to underline their Bundesliga title ambitions away to Hansa Rostock on Friday (Live in English from 8.15 pm CET on FCB.tv Web Radio) in the opening fixture of the second half of the league programme. However, the Bavarians are aware they face a more severe test of their credentials than third division Wuppertaler SV provided on Tuesday.

“Hansa Rostock are fighting relegation and have their backs to the wall,” coach Ottmar Hitzfeld pointed out ahead of the meeting with the side lying just two points clear of the drop zone in 15th. “They lost in the Cup in midweek, and will be determined to make amends. They’ll be even more focused and aggressive. We know what we can expect.”

Stiff challenge

“There’s no way we’ll underestimate Rostock,” insisted Miroslav Klose, scorer of a brace in the 5-2 defeat of Wuppertal. Despite the midweek Cup results and Bayern’s comfortable 3-0 triumph when the sides met in Munich on opening day, the leaders are bound to be stretched by the strugglers. “This is a different Rostock to the team we beat 3-0. They’ve made good progress and we’ll have to be at our best,” Hitzfeld commented.

Compared to Tuesday’s Cup tie, “we need to improve by 20, 30 percent,” remarked the 59-year-old coach, a sentiment echoed by the club captain: “If we play like we did at the start against Wuppertal, we’re in for a rude and unpleasant awakening,” Oliver Kahn grimaced.

Physical battle

However, Bayern can be optimistic in the light of their second half display in the Cup. “It’s obvious we’re already in good shape,” commented right-back Willy Sagnol, set for a first Bundesliga start in ten months. “We need to be cautious, and make sure we win the physical battle, like we did in the second half in Wuppertal. That’s the key to success.“

However, Hitzfeld feels Friday’s encounter will not descend into a war of attrition. “Rostock are capable of good football and they’ll keep us busy in defence. They have a strong forward line, and they’re dangerous on the break and at set pieces. We’ll have plenty of work to do,” the General admonished.

Reds in good spirits

In terms of the line-up on Friday, Hitzfeld is without Marcell Jansen (rehab after surgery), Lukas Podolski (slipped disc), Bastian Schweinsteiger (one-match suspension) and Michael Rensing (back). New signing Breno is still working on his fitness and is not a contender for the matchday squad at the present time.

After the six-week mid-season break, Hitzfeld said he was “delighted the Bundesliga’s back. We’ve prepared well and we’re in good physical shape.” A confident Sagnol predicted silverware at the end of the campaign: “It wouldn’t be a surprise if we won in Rostock. Taking the season as a whole, I can’t think of a better Bundesliga team than a fit Bayern Munich.“

Squad: Kahn, Dreher, Sagnol, Lucio, Van Buyten, Demichelis, Lahm, Lell, Ribéry, Altintop, Zé Roberto, Ottl, Van Bommel, Sosa, Kroos, Toni, Klose, Schlaudraff
Unavailable: Rensing (back), Jansen (rehab training), Podolski (slipped disc), Schweinsteiger (suspended), Breno (fitness)

Referee: Florian Meyer (Burgdorf)

HT in Rostock, Hansa-FCB 0:2, Ribery+Toni!

-bad referee, Hansa deserved 28 yellow cards, they'r too violent but referee give them only 1 yellow for Agali
-Kern is a fkn' bastard, hope Micho will be breaking his leg in the 2nd half!
-Bayern plays very slow, seems a friendly match, so we'r 2:0 but we've to work very hard to win this way, we can play this way in Rostock, not with Bremen 4 example......
-LET'S GO BAYERN!
