Not a bad goal to open the season. Nice through ball by Braco and nice play-back by Santa Cruz and of course, the finish by Hargreaves speaks for itself.

Makaay almost made it 3-0 in the 90th minute... if I remember correctly, that would have been the fastest hattrick in Bundesliga History. I think Sean Dundee holds it from around 7-9 years ago. I think it was like 6 minutes or something; Makaay's would have been 4!! WOW!

Too bad he missed it though.

It's all good, we're gonna be first place after this matchday, I doubt anybody else will win higher than 3-0.

i watched the game and absolutely dont understand people complaining about santa cruz. if it was not him, there wouldnt have been 1:0 at all. he did the most running and other dirty jobs of defenders, mr.everywhere almost. he prepared 1 goal, hit the sidebar once in 1vs2 situation and missed only 1 great header-chance. the other one shot was a 1vs3 situation and not even makaay would have scored that one. best players today: owen hargreaves, santa cruz, makaay. actually the whole team was good and worked really hard even 1 man down. gj.

Santa Cruz can't score for sh*t. How many chances does he need? Running is not enough. He'll never score more than 5 goals a season.

This is where Pizarro is better, he can do the working part AND finish.

Karimi played pretty well, he looked very comfortbale with the ball, had some good defensive tacklings and assisted the 3rd goal. Good addition to the team. (Y)

Hargreaves definitely man of the match today. He didn't lose the goal once while pushing forward.

think first. you say running is not enough. but what about his beautiful assist to 1:0? if not this goal, no way gladbach would have played such "offensive" in last 10min, and thus no way makaay would've got so much free space.

and santa cruz CAN score. in the past, when he was fit and he didnt get the chance to prove himself here, he always scored for paraguay. ok bayerns gameplay is more makaay-oriented but you should also understand that santa cruz had big family trouble shortly, and also that he was injured almost 2 years overall and need quite some games to feel comfortable.

(edit) ps: just an example. when makaay came to bayern he was already superstar but he still need quite few games to score his first goal
