Donovan Could Get Bayer Call

Bayer Leverkusen coach Klaus Augenthaler has admitted that he is pondering some lineup switches for Stuttgart’s weekend visit, one that could see Landon Donovan start in place of Robson Ponte.

The Brazilian playmaker has angered the boss with his last two showings, and is also suspended for their Champions League home leg against Liverpool.

“I am still thinking about my starting lineup,” Augenthaler told the club website.

The manager believes that Stuttgart’s extra time UEFA Cup affair on Thursday could leave the Schwabians with a little less in the tank.

“It is definitely an advantage for us because Stuttgart were in action for 120 minutes,” he said. “They beat us 3-0 earlier this season and it was our worst performance so far.”
