I agree with you Mauricio. He is truly a great player, who just had a bad season last year. Not just the injuries, he was very inconsistent. I don't think he'll just sit at the bench as he can be a great sub for both DM, or CB, and as I know Frank's rotating style, he will get minutes and I'm not too sure that Frank wants to let him go, but we'll see.

Tottenham have apparently been tracking the Bulgaria international all summer but Eriksson has made Petrov a target - and the former England boss is now on the verge of landing the 28-year-old, according to the Daily Mirror.

Atletico paid Wolfsburg £8million for Petrov in 2005 and the Spanish side are likely to want a similar fee from City, who are armed with a hefty transfer warchest following Thaksin Shinawatra’s takeover.

Petrov has made 43 appearances since moving to La Liga, scoring twice.

Well, I'm sad to see Simão leave us, but I wish him all the luck in the world.

I'm a big Atlético fan, I've always liked them a lot, it's the team I support in Spain. I hope Simão can be as decisive for Atleti as he was for Benfica!

Losing Torres was a big blow, but Atlético seems to be on the right track with their signings. I hope Benfica also makes up for the loss of Simão with quality signings. I hope Atlético is able to fight for the title this year, historically it's its rightful place.
