ARSENAL are lining up a shock £7million splash on Nigeria's acrobatic wonderkid.

Gunners boss Arsene Wenger has met representatives of top-rated striker Julius Aghahowa, already tipped as a potential World Cup star.

Aghahowa, 20, scored twice in Nigeria's 2-1 victory over Scotland last month and added another to his tally with the opener in Thursday's 2-1 defeat of the Republic of Ireland.

All his goals are celebrated with an outrageous bunch of backflips and somersaults.

His Ukrainian club Shakhtar Donetsk have been inundated with interest from top European clubs, including Italian champions Juventus and Scottish giants Rangers.

But Aghahowa, due to face England in the Group of Death in Osaka on June 12, has his heart set on a move to the Premiership. His brother lives in England.

His agent, Saife Rubie, admitted: "Julius wants to come to England and there has been interest from Arsenal."

Aghahowa could meet with Wenger this weekend, when he is in the capital for Nigeria's friendly against Jamaica at Loftus Road.

I Know not allot of people know about this striker, but believe me he is absolute quailty and he is only 20 years old. He would make a great partnership for Henry, because he is a goalscorer like Nistelrooy. He also has plenty of skill, pace, powerful in the air and can score any type of goal.

Not to forget his crazy celebreations.

If it's true, Arsenal would have to keep Kanu as bait to get this kid. I don't think Arsenal want to keep Kanu.

Why would they have to keep Kanu?? Because he's Nigerian? Are they related or something?

We could definitely use a player like Aghahowa. The cool goal celebrations would be a very welcome additin as well!:)

I don't think he will go to arsenal and think that Kanu is gonna stay, because it is common sense that when a striker comes in, another striker is likely to go out. Kanu has been the least impressive striker for arsenal so they will sell him, or Wiltord. I think they will keep Jeffers because he is still a young talent.

Very true. We are heavy in the striker dept. Most likely it WILL be Kanu going bye bye. My best guess is that he's gonna go to Spain.

You know, Aghahowa is 20 and another Nigerian player would make him more comfortable. If I was in his situation, i would move to Arsenal with less fear if someone from my country was there too ;)

I think it would be a great signing for Arsenal. I would like to see him at Liverpool ;)

But there are 2 Polish players at Donetsk, so it would be better for them if Aghahowa stayed.

I think Kader is correct, that's why they will have to decide if it's worth keeping Kanu. I think he (Kanu) needs a new team because he has talent, but it seems Arsenal has passed him by. For that reason it would be very difficult to get this lad Aghawhatever.
Personally I think Arsenal should concentrate on Wiltord, Henry and Jeffers. Another young striker would only stifle that players development. Stockpiling young players to play reserve football is a waste of resources.
If Arsenal wanted to invest money they should have signed DaCourt, whom I think is very impressive.

Cool! I want this guy just for his celebrations! But seriously, if he comes, Kanu looks the most likely to go. Kanu is a great player but he needs a fresh start at a new club. One Nigerian for another Nigerian hey. :mrpimp:

You totally contradicted yourself.

I think he would be a great pick up.
Try to lone jeffers to some team at the bottom of the table.

Agahagowa? I think I wrote it right:p He is more talented then Jeffers... I think that they should sell Jeffers and buy Agahagowa, It is a tough decision because Arsenal have so many good strikers. Or maybe they should keep Kanu... it sure is easier 2 spell:D :p

I think Arsenal are the last club who need a striker.

Besides having Henry,Wiltord(who plays on the right wing),Bergkamp(who plays just behind the strikers),Kanu,Jeffers they also have young players like Frenchman Jeremie Aliadiere who has also come on and scored this season.

So that means you have potentially 6 players fighting for 2 striking positions.

And with Van Bronckhorst and Pires back, it means Wenger also has too many options for his 4 man midfield.
