Trabelsi claims London interest

Hatem Trabelsi claims his agent has already had talks with both Arsenal and Chelsea over a possible Premiership move.

The defender is out of contract with Ajax in the summer and is able to sign a pre-contract before the end of the season, although the Dutch giants claim to have an option to extend his stay.

Trabelsi, who excelled for Tunisia during their successful African Cup of Nations run, admits he would love a move to England, although Serie A would also be an attractive option.

"I know my agent has spoken to Arsenal and Chelsea," he told The Mirror.

"I like The Premiership and the Italian Championship, so I must choose the right club for me. I am out of contract this summer, so I am able to sign a pre-contract before the end of the season."

Juventus and Manchester United have also expressed an interest in the highly-rated 27-year-old.

I don't know much about this guy. Is he someone Arsene should consider buying? I'm not sure if we really need another central defender, though.

we can parade with title at lily whites

POLICE chiefs have banned from Arsenal receiving the Premiership trophy at White Hart Lane if they become champions after next month's derby with Lily White ****s.

...But police and FA officials fear there will be violence at the Lane if Arsenal were presented with the trophy in front of their arch-enemies according to the Daily Star Sunday.

A police spokesman said: 'There's always a hostile environment when the two sides play. We fear Lily White ****s fans would be enough more aggressive if they saw their neighbours parading around their home turf and lifting the Premiership trophy.'

If Arsenal do clinch the title after the Lily white ****s derby - whatever the result - they will be handed the trophy the following weekend when they entertain Birmingham

c'mon, you can't really use that argument of "why isn't he at a big club?" that is just unfair, less than half a decade ago, arsenal wasn't even on the radar of "big, impactful clubs"....and he's playing for Ajax for godsakes....one of the most recognized clubs in all of Europe. Zlatan has great accuracy of his shot and can take the ball from his own end to the other team's box, he's no slouch when it comes to speed and I truly feel that he would've been a better buy than Reyes at the moment and for the future.

what is the point of this argument? hes not even the best striker in holland(kezman is and has been for a number of years),zlatan is alright, leave it at that.

He's a fullback. If we do get him which is highly unlikely, it would just simply cement Kolo's place as centre half.

I think we should get a CB(a professional) and move kolo to right back cos we concede some silly goals cos of ralphs lack of stamina.

I wouldn't mind either a fullback or a centre half. Because we don't lose much with either option - Kolo plays equally well in both positions.

Most of them don't even know what the Premiership trophy looks like so this just gets that out of the way. Seeing actual success makes blood boil in any Spurs supporter. There'd be mass suicides at White Hart Lane if it did happen. (H)

Silva eyes treble succes for Arsenal

Midfielder Gilberto Silva set his sights on emulating Manchester United's 1999 treble success, insisting Arsenal are as entertaining to watch as his native Brazil.

Arsenal were tonight looking to reach the Champions League quarter-finals for only the second time in their history after building up a 3-2 lead in the away leg of their last-16 tie against Celta Vigo.

Gilberto acknowledged that the Spanish side still pose a threat to Arsenal's ambitions, although he believes that the team will not allow their focus or concentration to slip at Highbury.

Indeed, with Arsenal leading the Premiership by nine points and already in the FA Cup semi-finals, the midfielder insists there is no reason why they could not land all three major honours.

'We have a good opportunity to win all three trophies but it will be difficult and we need to stay concentrated on each of our games,' he declared.

'All of the players go out there confident to win. Of course, it is always possible to lose but when all the players are helping each other, it is very difficult to beat Arsenal.

'We want to do well in all the competitions but the dream for Arsenal is the Champions League.'

Gilberto nevertheless warned: 'Celta Vigo are still a dangerous side and there are surprises in football all of the time.

'They are in a bad moment now in the Spanish league but this is a good opportunity for them to change their situation. We need to be careful and concentrated.'

Then again, Gilberto has been impressed with Arsenal's technique, quality and commitment to attacking football since his arrival at Highbury at the start of last season.

'We play simple football and go forward like the boss wants us to do. Is it like watching Brazil? It is very similar. There are a lot of good players here and the quality is fantastic,' he said.

However, when asked the likely result if Arsenal ever took on Brazil, he diplomatically side-stepped the question.

'That's difficult to answer! It would be a very good game, with a lot of quality and very special for the players and the fans, but I don't know what the result would be,' he admitted.

Gilberto is not assured of a starting role in tonight's game, especially with the recent form of compatriot Edu, who scored twice in the away leg in Vigo.

He nevertheless insisted: 'I am very happy for Edu and even happier when he scores a goal. He was very important in helping me to adapt when I moved to England.

'It was difficult for me as you have to get used to the new style of football, the weather, the food and new friends.

'But when I started to play in the games, then I felt comfortable because of the quality and personality of the players. Now it's like like a second family for me here.'

With Robert Pires and Dennis Bergkamp ready to return after being rested for the weekend FA Cup win at Portsmouth, Wenger must decide whether he can find room for Gilberto and Jose Reyes in the side.

Celta Vigo may have conceded 12 goals in their past four games, but Wenger still insisted: 'The best way to approach a game is to try and win it. That's the easiest way to motivate a team.

'If we suddenly started kicking the ball into the stands and going down to waste time, it would not be us. We must be faithful to the quality of the game we love to play.'
