Lets not go crazy: Ronaldo is barely a year younger (late January, 1984 v. Early Feb, 1985) But he deserves to have been in the UEFA team, as he set the world alight last year. Hes finally started to replicate that form this year, and i, unlike alot of people who hate the guy, wish him success. Just not at Chelsea's expense :) And LadyLover, I dont recall seeing a single match this year where Arjen has been "marked tight" or put out of a game, because i dont think its happened yet. Even in the blackburn game (the first one) he came back from a couple of months injury and ran riot almost immediately

Well against Portugal Miguel ate Robben alive, it is a pity that he is getting a lot of injuries and he is just 21, I don't care about Chelsea, but for the Dutch team he can add alot in the attack

Chelsea and Holland wide man Arjen Robben has suffered ankle ligament damage and will miss Wednesday's game with Armenia.
The pacey Dutchman, who has only just returned from a broken ankle, limped off in Holland's 2-0 win against Romania on Saturday after just 21 minutes.
Robben has endured a nightmare campaign in terms of injuries and is now definitely out of Holland's midweek clash after scans revealed the full extent of the knock.
The talented forward admits that the injuries he has suffered this term are becoming a major concern.
"I have good hopes that it is not that bad but the game against Armenia will probably come too soon," said Robben.
"I am starting to get really angry about these injuries.''
Although details of the knock have yet to be fully revealed, it has been confirmed that Robben will miss the next two weeks of the season.

this is his 3rd injury this season is'nt it

a it's funny how a lot of people are quick to say "Ronaldo sucks" etc yet he's always the compare-to guy in these pointless polls...hmm

Somebody should make a Rooney vs. Pele poll :|

I was speaking of club matches, having forgotten than LadyLover was dutch. Last dutch match I saw was Netherlands v. (ironically) Portugal, and that was months ago, so my memory is hazy. And hey! Chelsea got one of your guys too, so no complaining (H)

Besides the injuries (everyone gets injured) I think Robben is slightly better at the moment, however I do think if you ask this question one or 2 years from now, I think I will have a different answer.

Robben despite all his injuries is still far more effective than C.Ronaldo IMO. He's very clinical and does enough to get the job done. Also, maybe it's just me but I think Ronaldo is faster than Robben, it's just that Robben is more direct in his runs and keeps moving forward. In fact, Robben's injuries are testimony to just how good he is because hacking him down is the only way most defences can stop him.

i don't think robben will ever get injured serioulsly after this season. Robben is more versitile and if ronaldo tried to do his tricks against a good italian defender he would get murdered (i hope he plays against zambrotta one day) and robben is much more consistent before the manu vs exter match in janurary Ronaldo only scored either 1 or 0 goals all year

just for the record, Cristiano Ronaldo was practically useless when he was being marked by Maldini in the CL game against Milan.

henry14: Not really, i believe he got injuried yesterday by jumping away from the charging keeper.

But anyways, this thread i think is pointless. Ronaldo got the dribbles Robben never seen in the world before. Ronaldo has a much much better ball control than Robben, Ronaldo runs faster than Robben. However Robben is far more effective, Robben creates more chances, Robben is more direct and Robben has a more accurate cross/shoot whatever. That's how it is at least with Ronaldo's second season and Robben's first season comparison. It is however a fact that Ronaldo is being paid more attention too, since it's his second season and probably same will be with Robben next season. But what really is the point of comparing them? They are good in their own way, same teams would rather have Ronaldo, some would rather have Robben all depends on the system and style of play.

Like Virgo said, the point of this thread is basically to see how many Man Utd+Portugese fans are here compared to the rest of the world. And right now there is more of the rest of the world, so there you go.

Dont' even see the point of this comparisons, they never prove anything anyways and only lead to arguments.

ForzaNerazzuri: Robben didn't do much with Maniche either.

becksfranksteve: form is a very big thing that every player suffers and also keep in mind, that before the Exeter game, Ronaldo played almost every week for a year non-stop training, not many players can keep that great form up playing so much non-stop.
