thanks guys. i'm excited about this kid. notice how the only press he gets is from grant wahl though? that guy IS usa soccer publicity :kader:

The Red Devil
Our German u17 also seems promising.

When Adu(When he's older)comes to Europe, I hope its not Madrid that attract him.

It will be alot harder for Adu when he plays professional football In Europe, its not a what it was like a long time ago when players like Johan Cryuff and Diego Maradona could rip a team to shreds on his own, he will be one of the best players in a few years.

His mom turned down a six figure contract from Inter Milan when he was 12!!!WTF is wrong with his mom...????

Jedi Mind Trick

Starting XI
his mom probably wanted him to enjoy his youth in america. nothing wrong with that. i'm sure she just wanted him to get an education here, while playing soccer. everything i've read about him, it seems like his mom puts a lot of emphasis on his school work and education. all good to me.

if he keeps improving, stays healthy, and doesn't get too caught up in the press and attention, the contracts will always be there.

Starting XI
well hes one of the best kids his age so if anyone has a chance to make it he probably has the best chance

If injuries don't come into the picture, I think it would be best for Adu to play a few years in MLS and then go on to a Premiership side. It's probably too early for him to join MLS next year, but he could do so in 2005. He could play three seasons in MLS, until he's 18 and then transfer abroad. Hoepfully he can play on our Olympic squad next year (even though he would have only just turned 15 when the Olympics start!) and we'll see what happens after that.

how about we wait till atleast they are 18 or 19
Because the U-17 World Cup is coming up and these guys are the future of American soccer.

If you don't care don't post. There are many threads on SG that I don't give a **** about but I don't go there to whine. For ****'s sake, there's like seven ****ing threads about Veron going to Chelsea/ManUtd without Veron and Beckham/Chelsea's summer acquisitions etc.

In that game, USA defender Jonathan Spector faced off against his future team. After the U-17 World Championships, Spector is joing ManUre, playing with their reserves and their U-19 team as well.

ManUre discovered Spector when they were scouting out an Austrian striker. They saw Spector own the guy, and instead of wanting the Austrian, they decided they wanted Spector instead.

If he wanted an education, he should have come to England, then he could have become English. Then English football would have a future instead of our leagues being dominated by players from other countries stopping our youth playing.
