I got this from onefootball.com
Juan Sebastian Veron wants to cut short his up-and-down spell with Manchester United and return to Lazio.
"I hope president Sergio Cragnotti can do a deal. I am ready to return," said the Argentina star, who is unhappy at losing his central-midfield job with the English side.
"I know Cragnotti had a long telephone call with my agent Gustavo Mascardi and they spoke about me," he explained. "Cragnotti has tried to find out if there is a possibility of taking me back this summer. They spoke before Christmas.'
"To be honest I would be happy to go back in Italy, but only to play for Lazio."
Veron was again played on the left by coach Sir Alex Ferguson as United beat Southampton last weekend, but his body language betrayed discontent.
And he told the Corriere Dello Sport on Friday: "I wait to see how this story will end. It made me feel bad seeing suffer Lazio on television against Milan. I am proud that I have not been forgotten by the fans."
United have always denied that a clause in Veron's contract allows him to return to Lazio in summer 2002, but the Premiership leaders might be grateful to recoup the £28.1 million they spent on the midfielder in the close season.
It is not certain, though, if the Rome giants have the cash to finance such a deal.
As onefootball.com revealed several months ago, the 1999-2000 double-winners will have a clear-out if they fail to haul themselves into a Champions' League place by the end of the season.
Cragnotti confirmed as much on Thursday night and even threatened to walk out. "I am tired by the fans' protests and could leave," he said.
"I will see that there is a revolution at the end of the season. I will keep only ten, maybe 12 players."
