So, just for fun I'm throwing together a small "legends" league, made up by cannibalizing players from the Classic 11, editing currently old players like Romario to return them to their youthful glory, restoring the retired players like Zidane, Overmars and Zola who still have Zdata lying around, and importing some players from the classic patch(don't worry, classic patch folks, I'm not planning on re-distributing this.) I've run into some player-editing weirdness in trying to do this though.
1. Mainly, since I was putting together this super-elite league, I wanted to have lots of super-skilled players, so I tried just cloning the players who currently have skill moves in DB Master. So, I cloned Ronaldo for Overmars, Ronaldinho for Zidane, and so on, and changed the player IDs to the correct one for the retired player, changed a few basic attributes and other stuff to fit the new player, etc. Saved the DB, and opened it up in CM, saw that Zidane's and Overmar's correct face were assigned to the new player. So far, so good.
But when I went to test gameplay, two weird things happened. 1. Cloning a player does not seem to clone his special move ability? I tried and tried to do an elastico with Zidane clone of Ronaldinho, but no luck. Same with the Ronaldo/Overmars and his moves. If this designation doesn't live in the DB, where the heck does it live? Is it just restricted to a given player ID? Is it hardcoded into the .exe or something? (Figures, everything I want to mess with ends up being in the .exe) If anyone can shed any light, please let me know. It would open up some interesting editing possibillities otherwise too, since it gets kind of old having so few players to choose from who can do the wicked cool moves.
I'll probably try one more experiment and report back on the results: assign a really nondescript crappy player the id# of one of the "special" players, and see if he can then do those moves. I'd also be interested to know if anyone has ever had a scouted player come up in career mode who can do any of the special skill moves.
2. Although Creation Master showed that the cloned entry had picked up the Zidane Zdata, in-game, Zidane had a creepy "flesh ponytail" when viewed from afar, which was obviously somehow leftover from Ronaldinho. Is this some other kind of weird player-specific special feature that's somewhere beyond the basic face/head system? Or is the .O file not changing somehow while the face and hair textures are? But the face looks ok and perfectly Zidane-like on closeup, and export of the .O give a file number corresponding to his player ID so I think the head model is right. It's really odd.
And yes, I used fatbuilder after every round of changes. Any ideas on these issues?
