(Another) Fifa 2002 fan converted with ease...

Having just recently purchased PES, I've begun spreading the word to the uninitiated, particularly Fifa fans. So far I've had 2 friends round on separate occasions, the first was a football gaming novice who hadn't been brainwashed by the Fifa incarnations of the beautiful game (naturally he loved it - 6 hours non stop in 2 player 'teamwork' mode), but most satisfying, last night a friend who'd only ever played the Fifa games was round (currently playing Fifa 2002 on hid PS1) and sure enough he was converted without a whimper.

Even being fed on a wealth of teams and quality commentary, last night was a classic example of no matter how you dress Fifa up, PES (and the other PE games) stand out a mile in terms of gameplay and satisfaction when playing/scoring.

Obviously I'm not stating anything new regarding the PE games, but my question is: have any of you men had similar satisfying Fifa conversions...?

2 more questions - has anyone played PES with more than 2 people, and if so, does the enjoyment level increase even more so than when you and a friend are teammates and are slicing through a CPU defence etc.

Finally, besides www.mylogigames.com/we5/, are there any other recommended sites with quality goal galleries that I can check out.

Cheers, I hope my message/questions are worthy of your comments, with this being my first message on this forum......

Re:

Congratulations!I'm also a fifa convert(why do i lost all that precious time playing such a crap game:mad: ); i've been playing PES for a week now and i'm really REALLY addicted to the game.
It's been a while since i felt such pleasure playing a videogame and having bought PS2 mostly because of PES and i can say that it's well worth the money!!!
Keep on spreading the word(so that football/videogames fans don't spend money "on u what game"- cause it ain't worth it).
And keep on playing!
Cheers!

Brother

I think Ive mentioned here before but my brother was a FIFA player, in fact I had bought him all the games fo rhis PS1 then recently I started playing PE2 and bought him a copy to, he hated it at first he was frustrated because he couldnt score easy goals, no Man U, etc. Now four weeks on he loves it, hes not bothered for playing as Man U, he prefers playing as Argentina and whupping ass... He has begun the conversion that you begin to realise how deep the game is, unfortunately for him Ive got better too, so I have moved on to "Hard" and play a more laid back game, and I know that with Holland I will create chances..

One very successful conversion

Welcome to the Club Paul, the same goes for me too, around 8 years of playing the Fifa offerings along with a few others that turned up along the way and then onto the Iss series via the Epsxe Emu on the Pc, and that was the time that i realised Iss was the way to go, but as a Fifa diehard the 2002 release surely would be the one that was the "Daddy" of the Fifa games, so once again i went out and dropped my cash onto the counter and away i went with the boxed game, mmm, well i wont go into that anymore apart from saying that i don't and won't ever get involved in any more of EA's football offerings .. Onto the posts in here about PES, and reading up on the Pes and football gaming review sites, OH, my, it looked like that after years of head banging and wishing for a game that resembled a football game "apart from Iss" was finally here, well the rest is now history, the Ps2 was purchased about one month before the game was released and never even got turned on untill i finally purchased the game.. and every time i play the game it is never ever the same, it blows you away with its content-class,and the pure enjoyment and the excitment of out thinking and out playing the opposing teams in there and is a challenge from the start of any game untill the final whistle .. and in regard to being another disciple of the Tribe, yes so far i have converted five other players over to Pes, well not actually by ranting on a soapbox, but by casually turning on the Ps2 and letting the game do the talking .. "We are a Football Tribe" .. aye, i will vouch for that ..Ned :)

A lot of us are FIFA converts, simply because EA were putting out good football games (FIFA Road To The World Cup 98) when ISS Pro didn't exist. I actually think that the reason the little foibles of ISS games over the years (lack of leagues, club sides etc) haven't bothered me so much is because I used to spend hours playing the Spanish League as Barca on RTWC98, thinking "OK, I'm playing Real at the Bernabeu, I've nicked the lead in the 45th minute to make it 5-4 at half time - a great first half for 5-goal Patrick Kluivert - then when Real come out for the second half, all they're doing is getting the ball in midfield and immediately punting it downfield to my goalie. Every time they get possession, they immediately do that. EVERY time. For the whole second half. Unsurprisingly the final score is 11-4. Barca have won the league in early February, by a 20-point margin. In the goalscorer's charts, Kluivert is top with 44 goals, Rivaldo has 42, Luis Enrique has 39, then fourth is one of the centre backs from Real Betis, who's scored 11."

Either that or we came from old PC football games like Sensible Soccer or Kick Off. I never saw Kick Off, but I used to love Sensi, making those different-coloured blobs represent clubs from Mexico I'd never heard of, or playing tournaments with teams called things like Chip Shop (their back four: P.Onion, C.Roe, F.Chicken, B.Sausage) and First-Class Counties (with their lethal frontline of Essex, Yorkshire and Middlesex).

Once ISS PE was out, that was it for me, no other football games required. Apart from the annual renting of the new FIFA, just to keep up with how bad it's getting. The only other football game I ever got into was Actua Soccer 3. It was kind of crappy, but it had a fantastic atmosphere -- all the English stadia, all 4 divisions, fantastic Barry Davies commentary, cold and misty Saturday afternoon graphics. It really had an English football feel to it. Unfortunately, it meant when playing the other leagues, you had Alaves or Brescia playing at what was quite clearly Villa Park. And the snowy pitches were just ridiculous.

I fell in a big dark whole. it is so depressing!
I can't handle the fact that I'm only able to play club teams in friendlies and that I'm not able to edit/trade club players.
I DONT WANT TO PLAY INTERNATIONAL CUP ALL THE TIME.
AND MASTER LEAGUE SUCKS BECAUSE OF THE FIGURATIVE TEAM YOU START WITH. I HATE THIS GET POINTS/BUY PLAYERS SYSTEM!

I WANT TO PLAY FULL LENGHT EUROPEAN LEAGUES (FRANCHISE MODE) WITH CHAMPIONS LEAGUE IF YOUR TEAM IS GOOD ENOUGH AFTER THE FIRST YEAR.
NBA LIVE / NHL series have this. why not PES?

AT LEAST LET US PLAY OUR OWN CUSTOM LEAGUES/CUPS WITH THE CLUB TEAMS YOU GIVE US.

Hey, what a coincidence that Kick Off was mentioned, well for you guys who remember that super series from 12 years ago, the good news is that within weeks the new Ultimate Kick Off should be released on the Pc in the same classic format as the previous ones, and from what i read on the game site, the game will have a few more features .. Ned :)

Definately, there's regular 4-player games round mine when ppl are back from university, and the fun factor does rise compared to 2-player, just because of the banter that goes on i think.

Im a full fifa convert, fairly recently. I've played many many hours of we2000 (isspe2) in the last month, to the point where i could be considered a gameplay expert (maybe). But all i got to say is if you dont love this game then you dont truly love football, you like the glamour but you dont understand or see the beauty and depth. If you catch the double meaning to that last sentence then that sums up what i've got to say.
MisterX_K, you're an idiot, we can argue about that after you reply and call me a fag.

I'm another who, until now, was a FIFA player, because I could not find anything better until I came across PES, which is a gameplayers delight.

However, the only thing that I knew would piss me off, and it does, is the club teams. Because of the enjoyment I get out of games by playing with the actual club sides, It's just hard to start a league with Burchert playing for Barcelona etc, and seeing Juventus....umm I mean Piemonte at the top of division 2. Simply put, Konami really do need to do something about their club side of things.

International football is great, being able to make your own players and edit names etc, everything is brilliant, but playing continual cups on Intenrational football can get a bit tedious, and it's not the bread and butter!!!!

when it comes to a simple Master League with clubs, with fictious names it does test your loyality quite a bit. I'm sure Konami won't get any arguments from any fan, if they decide to really pursue a club edition, i too would like to see the Premier League, Spanish League and so on. But the strange names have to go, and it really needs liscencing.

I think we should start a campaign as fans, to push Konami on this issue, so if atleast we do not get a complete game with both, that atleast we get a club edition release. If konami wish to include real club names with the ability to play as the real players in your side in tournaments, the football market can pack up and go home, for it's the only thing holding the game back from pure dominance.

My conversion started, oddly enough, when I bought a PC. I went out and bought FIFA 2001, and thought it was the sh*t for about 5 games (nice graphics, commentary, etc.). It shortly became clear that the game had no depth, and the ball physics were all screwed up; the graphics and commentary became completely unimportant. After several attempts at editing the imfamous "aimain" file to make the game more realistic, I gave up on FIFA.

Then I found ISS after a post about ePSXe in the FIFA 2001 forum. I've never looked back. I have a copy of FIFA 2002, and it sucks just as badly, if not more, than 2001. I now have both ISSPE1 and ISSPE2 (PES is on it's way from the UK), and I can honestly say that ISSPE1 is a thousand times better that FIFA 2002, let alone ISSPE2 and PES. There is just no comparison.
