zoom the thing that you want to cut, and take the erase tool, adn go around the edges and that's it

No, don't use the eraser tool it sucks for things like this and it takes too long instead use the lasso tool or the polygonal lasso tool. When I cut something I usually work with both, first I cut out the picture with the polygonal one as best as I can and then I use the regular lasso tool to fix up parts that need fixing. It takes about 5 minutes to cut out a picture like the one I did above.
