Hey.. I remember in Fifa 2003, My Thrustmaster Dual Power Game pads with Dual Analog would not let me use the Right analog for the special moves in the game!

This was SO frustrating!!:f***:

Will 2004 also have a similar feature?? IF so.. which Game Pads are SUPPORTED BY EA??

Does EA work with anybody like logitech maybe?? Thrustmaster, Microsoft?? You know, to ENSURE that their pads will work??

I think EA should always come out with a SUPPORTED list of game pads (which will allow usage of every feature like special moves with right analog stick) for EVERY game they make!!

That is the least they can do.. a better thing would be to put more emphasis on Game Pads working with their games in general.. At least MAKE sure that all Dual Analog sticks from Microsoft, Logitech, Thrustmaster, and Gravis work, as those are the TOP 4 Game Pad makers..

Thanks.. so yeah.. if anybody knows if Thrustmaster will work this year.. let me know... or at least which will work.. k bye!!

Yeah I saw that too..

Interesting controller.. but the question remains..

Does it work?? I don't want to buy it if it doesn't even work..

Or if My controller works this year for 2004..

Or if I can get USB coverters for Xbox controllers..

I have the same problem as you nikeportugal, but I have the ps2-controller and an usb-converter so that didn't work either :(

Maybe Schurke has a better converter than I if it worked for him, cause I can't get the damn thing to function properly...

I can only hope it will work with FIFA 2004 cause the right analog stick has a major significance to the gameplay and probably even more with the new game.

I agree. I am also in the process of buying a new gamepad. The guys over at FIFA UK have promised to send questions regarding this to the development team. I hope they respond soon.

BTW, Valioso ssaid over at the FIFA UK forums that his Logitech Wingman rumble pad worked well with last years Fifa.

So it sounds like it's Logitech that works with the game...

I hope they can fix it a little better now so that people with ps2-controllers can play the game too, that's the best gamepad IMO...

I have a logitech myself, quite good, but mine's outdated so whenever I try to play on say a racing game and want to use X as an accel button it wont work!!;)

Yeah.. I would have to say that Logitech is a pretty safe bet ... They seem to be number one in my opinion...

But still ... It would be great if EA would just tell us which ones work ... and which ones don't...

That new one from Logitech that looks like a PS2 controller though seems to look good.. but who knows.. so did my Thrustmaster Dual Power 2 Gamepads..

Do you have analog controllers on your Logitech??
If so and it works fine, except that it's old I'll probably go for that.
Especially since the new one looks almost like a PS2-pad...

 doesn't ea write which pads they recommend in readme text

this is from fifa 2003 readme.txt

"We highly recommend the use of a 360º analog gamepad such as the Microsoft Sidewinder Gamepad Pro, Logitech Wingman Rumblepad, Gravis Eliminator Gamepad Pro USB, Gravis Xterminator or Interact Axis Pad."

Like I said the one I have is outdated so it doesn't have the analog pads or any of that, which would make it impossible to play on 2004 with.

hopefully a good explanation for you

I had posted on the American EA Sports forum last year November or so after extensive research on why some dual analog controllers worked while others didn't.

What I had found was that it was the game's fault for not allowing in-game changing of the recognizable directx call axis set by windows. The main problem is the fact that all PC pad proprietary drivers (specifically for your brand/model) usually map the right analog 2 axis' different from each other. What this does is yield random results as to if your controller worked for fifa 2003.

The key to get your controller to work with Fifa 2003 was to try and change the directx call for the right X & Y axis to a recognized call. This is the reason why most controllers right analog WITHOUT the proprietary driver worked for fifa, since the (at least) XP pro default driver mapped most right analogs X as 'Z axis' and Y as 'Z rotation', This IS recognized as valid right analog calls in FIfa 2003. Another recognized call would be.. hrm I'm not at home using my nostromo n45, but I believe it to be Rx and Ry set for the X and Y axis respectively.

Why the greatly designed hardware that is known as the thrustmaster dual analog does NOT work is the simple fact that neither the proprietary nor the windows default driver maps the right analog to a recognized FIFA2003 input. The downfall was the proprietary driver applet NOT letting one change the axis to a recognized dx call (see above paragraph for legal ones).

The key in 2004 will be if the game will recognize MORE than just the few they did in 2003, in that case more discrepancies between pc pads and convertors will be more leniant.

Hope this helps

I have an older Saitek pad. I will get a new one but I am going to wait until after fifa '04 comes out to get one. I suggest you do that too if you will buy a new one.
