what nike are doing is rather recent.
they give sportsmen who wear thier stuff that win big trophies accalaides, golden gear.
i do believe it started in track running a good while ago, but is recently entering other sports, eg. tennis & football.
when ronaldinho got his gold boots it was because he won world player of the year.
