African Football and WC2010

What are your thoughts on the state of African football and its ability to host the World Cup 2010. While some african national teams are descent enough and have some descent stadiums, I believe that only Tunisia has the ability to host the world cup. South Africa's crime rate is frightnening and foreign supporter's safetly could be in danger.
Does anyone believe Africa should postpone their plans to host for a little while longer while things stabalize a little more.

With everything let out of the bag involving the english FA + the south african FA, I'd put their chance's in doubt, I think Nelson Mandela's(no disrespect) part in this was used as a cover-up to give the country a good image. :o

African football is the second best in the world (behind american of course) Im glad they are getting the world cup, they deserve it.

When does the USA get it back?

Actualy i think youll find that European football is better than both. I think Africa deserve the world cup though after all these years of waiting.

Not very soon. We've made some great progress but we don't desrve to host it twice in a short period. And please don't make comments like American football is #1. Not all US national team fans are as delusional as you.

He should be banned just for being banned (twice) and opening a new account. I'm not a mod but I think that's the rules, no?

But to get back to the topic of this thread... by 2010 I'm hoping there will be an African country worthy of hosting the World Cup. I think several countries have the opportunity to host if they can take care of some internal problems.

I had heard a couple years ago (and even saw on television) that Australia were going to be given the 2010 World Cup. Did anyone else hear of this and know what happened to that decision?

I hope by American he means South American (Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay etc) and even in that case it is debatable. African football is good no doubt but its still prob 3rd behind European, South American. ANC is enternaining tho. I put my vote for Tunis to host. Hopefully and african country can win 2006 so that it gives the bid even more credibility.

I heard it few months ago that Sepp Blatter gave 2010 world cup to South Africa after that 2006 scandal. I hope Argentina will host 2014 world cup. Fun nation.

For 2014 i think Aus/NZ should try a joint bid.

As for the African bid, i think i saw some monster bid Nigeria and like 5 other nations, how would that work?

I think NZ/Aus would be ideal.

Although there would be no problems with timezone for those of us in the United States + Europe

Kickoffs at noon + 7:30pm in Aus/NZ would mean...

Those of us in the UK would probably get the noon kickoff live at 5:30am + evening kickoff at 10am

GMT +10 for Sydney according to Windows XP clock settings.

Well, for those of us who get up around 3.30 :P(I could be wrong, but anyone will stay up for football) :rockman:

I must say the states would have it alot easier, since they'll be able to watch it in the evening.;):rockman:
