Adobe Photoshop 6 - Is CS Necessary?

Hi guys. Well, I'm in a little dillemma at the moment. I currently own Adobe Photoshop 6.0. From your expert point of view, would it be practical if I purchased Adobe's latest installment, Photoshop CS?

I'm an avid webdesigner who has mastered a considerable variety of intricate skills over the course of the past 4 years during which I've embarked on various design oriented projects for university assignments and personal uses. These designs were created with PSP 6. Is there a major difference beteween both products? (PSP 6 and CS)

Photoshop CS is not really nessecary unless you have the money (or adsl:P). It does have some new added features that come in handy, especially for photo retouching. I think you'll do just as well with 6 as you would with CS.

PS7 might be worth it, if you can find it on clearance or sale somewhere, but like Phil said, I think you can manage with PS6, rather then spending a large sum.

I found PS6 to be a big improvment over 5.5, but every new version after that hasn't really made huge advances IMO. I'm still using PS7 myself and see no reason to go to CS after looking at the product specs..
